Review @ Out of Eight

Commander – Europe at War Gold is the first in a series of high level turn based strategy games. The first game spans WW2, allowing players to control the axis or allied forces through the entire war in the European Theatre.

I like the simplistic general nature of most Slytherine games. Nice change from my other games, enjoyable, playable and a change of pace.

I echo those thoughts, very good game system. If there could be just some sort of political variable in a future patch, then I would rate this as a great game.

It was a nice write up.  Hopefully more will join our fun and happy group because of it.

I haven't bought this game, and after reading this review, I just realized how Slitherine got around the Allied AI problem, i.e., how to get the Allies to invade Normandy. Simply make the player all of the the Allies!

In HoI, playing Russia was a problem as the rest of the Allies -- who were all AI driven as you only play one nation -- were reluctant to invade and take the pressure off my Western front.

So how hard is it to handle USA, GB and the USSR all at the same time/turn?

interesting, how HARD ?

if you start in 39, pretty easy

you got England and France, Russia and US don't really have much or do anything

then France is gone and you got England with out many troops and Russia and the US which don't do anything

once Russia Joins the war, then it can get interesting [:-]

really, it is not bad, and is easy to run

maybe the biggest pain is getting US troops from the US to ETO, but even that does not take too long or too HARD to handle

the system works good
