Supply after Surrender

Post by targul »

Game handles supply lines incorrectly after country falls. It places all units helping immediately out of supply even though they had actually moved in those hexes for supply while moving to the engagement.

Units should be in supply if they have established a supply line prior to the capitulation of the nation.

Presently all hexes but those occupied by enemy forces become controlled by the victorious country. Normally this is fine. If there are not opposing units then all should go the the controller. When, however, victor did not control those hexes and the opponent did control them they should remain in the enemy control until they are captured.

I was just defending Spain as the Allied player and when the capital was captured all hexes became Axis. My units which had marched to the capital area where now all out of supply even though I controlled a port and had physically controlled all those hexes prior to Spain surrendering.

I also noticed something else that bothers me. Playing as the Allies on normal just to play with the game mechanics. Germany fell Oct 1943. Bulgaria, Italy and Hungary gamely soldiered on in the failing Axis cause. Russia was still receiving convoys LONG (5 months) after Germany fell. These were not convoys already at sea. These were brand spanking new ones out of Canada. Needs to be changed a bit methinks

Wasnit the game over when Germany surrendered? Who and why would there still be fighting?

Nope. Berlin Fell, Germany surrendered, northern and Southern Italy were allied controlled, half of Hungary in Soviet hands, Bulgaria intact at the time of German surrender. But theItalians,Hungarians and Bulgarians fought on. I think that might stem from me setting up options to go past '45. But it just bothers me with the convoys to Russia post German surrender.Even in the "real" world if those three countries continued on like here, no sane leader, or for that matter, insane leader would keep on shipping all those goodies to the workers paradise.
