Disappearing CAG

Post by kondor »

In my late game against rjh1971. Mine veteran Jap. CAG in yellow sea just vanquished... There where no fighting involved...
I have sent PM with attachments of the saves before and after it happened to the Brian so that someone can look at it...
Please respond is there a fix to this or should I continue the game with that handicap...
Thx!

will look when I get a chance, maybe tonight but I think you shouldn't wait for me and have to continue. Maybe a freak storm took out a carrier group.

Usually when I've seen this kind of thing happen to CAGs they were supposed to have been removed EARLIER, but stick around after they are supposed to be gone and confuse you. E.g. I seem to recall seeing a CAG stick around after its CV was sunk, and the CAG didn't disappear until I clicked on it and tried to do something with it. That sort of thing.

Hmm, I was thinking it was the reverse of the The Final Countdown (the Kirk Douglas movie, not the song by Europe....) ;)

You're right Uncle_Joe, the Philadelphia Experiment was the translation for the movie in Spanish, nonetheless you got the meaning [:D]

For those of you who don't know (I didn't know and had to look it up):

Tesla: United States electrical engineer and inventor (born in Croatia but of Serbian descent) who discovered the principles of alternating currents and developed the first alternating-current induction motor and the Tesla coil and several forms of oscillators

Je, je so he's working for the WA, hope he keeps up the good work [:D]

That is just some of his experiments... He was working on lots of other staff... Top secret military research etc. Philadelphia experiment was based on his work... That is way I mentioned him... That and the fact that he is from Croatia to[;)].

Kondor

For some reason I am not able to download your save from the PM, could you email it to me.

The best would be a save of just prior to the troubling event, with clear instructions on how to reproduce the event.

But is it the same CV the CAG was on before a recent combat?

If you had 2 CAGs and 2 CVs, and 1 CAg and 1 CV were damaged, then the remaining CV and CAG may not actually be linked to each other. That's the kind of situation I'm thinking of.

Don't forget to email me the file.

I´ll mail it to you when I got home from work...
I had 3 CV-S with 3 CAG last turn, then WA engaged and damaged 2 CV-s, and I don´t remeber how many CAG-s... Possible 2, because one of mine CAG retaliate and destroyed one of his CV-s and gained veteran status...

Next turn, Jap turn, CAG was normally there and I flew him and some FT-s to attack his remaining CV-s... But there somewhere I realised that CAG has just disappeard...
It could be that what you have stated before...

Probably that is the case.. But I´ll have to check when I get home...

I studied the replay more carefully and that was the case...
I had 3 Jap. CV-s and 3 CAG-s on them. Rjh1971 as WA attacked and damaged 2, destroyed 1 CAG. BUT one of mine CAG retaliate and destroyed 1 WA CV-s, gaining veteran status and stick around untill I moved it next turn...

I sometimes see CAG disappear too. When that happens, I just toggle the view button between show supplies and show units. That always makes the CAG reappear for me.
