Ummm Flanker...don't get your (or anyones) hopes up prematurely. [:(]

That journal entry is from 2004, back when the 2by3 gang were thinking about doing an update for WiR in conjunction with MG IIRC. That idea has since been shelved in favor of other projects...at least for the near future.

It would be nice to see the ole gal get a major face lift...but at this point it doesn't seem to be a priority for either party.

I stand corrected...and I'm happy to have it that way! [:)]

I hope this time they carry the project through to completion.[8D]

This is great news!  I've played Russian Front games since AH Stalingrad (the big box version).  Anyone remember that one?

Hmmmm... I remember AH's Stalingrad. Grew up on Tactics II, Gettysburg and Bismark but, when I got to college, my friends had been into Stalingrad and so I got into that one also (hehe.... not a great job from a historical perspective... but a fun game in any case).

Then there was Russian Campaign. I never really liked that one much because it usually ended up in a draw.

Then there was GDW's Drang Nach Osten... the Russian Front on the division level. Never actually played that one out though some of their related games.... Narvik and a Battle of Britian game... proved to be a lot of fun.

Looking at the 2x3 newsletter.... they say they *might* be able to get a new WiR game out.... some time in 2008 but they are not committing to anything right now. Right now they are working on an American Civil War game and.... 'Grigsby does the ACW'... should be interesting.

They say almost done with that and then on to the new WiR game... which they feel is gonna be a BIG project. Hmmmm... given what is there now with WiR... should not be a big project.... unless... sheesh... might be Russian front on the division level.

Far out!

If so WiR should have extended life (like PacWar and WitP) as the corps level game on the same subject.

DiT

P.S. Still would prefer that they did a western front game at the corps level starting with the invasion of Poland... and updated all of em to Windows graphics.

Shure. And about a hundered others in the same theme. This is a good computer game of the conflict though. I like it so far but I've only played it through once.

Believe it or not I still have those AH games up in the attic! Also dozens of Strategy and Tactics magazines including #1.

The Eastern Front was where WWII was won and lost. The USSR alone lost on average 14,000 dead (military and civilian) every day for four years. Compare that to any other conflict in history. Any game that can do justice to a struggle of that magnitude is worth having! But if anyone can do it Grigsby can.
