May I respectfully remind all of you that I started this thread, which was originally about a work-around in C@W that was similar to arguments on this forum re carriers and their planes.

The difference was that, unlike UV, transferring planes away from carriers to become LBA made these aircraft "untouchable" in C@W, so it wasn't exactly a tactic, but a cheat that will fixed w/the game's first patch.

And if anyone was paying attention, Larry got his game fixed by going retro-compatible to Win '98/ME; if anyone else is having the same problem w/running UV on XP, that trick might work for you as well.

I'm tempted to say something re the UV Scenario Editor and what I did to Yam's Prophecy, but maybe I should start another thread and leave Ike and Todd to themselves.

Remember what Yorktown said re UV? Game, gamey; (UV) is a game.

One more observation; I think we're all in our 50s. Frightening, isn't it.

Larry, for the record, I'm also a ham, although I haven't been on the air for years. My call is KA1CQ: WAS, DXCC, at least before I was married.

Speaking of sounding familiar, this reminds me of the time I had to "cease fire" re some argument w/DEB over something only remotely related to UV.

The Japs have to take PM, that is a given. The Allies do not have to defend it to win the game.

I don't know about other IJN players but I always send the Shokaku, Zuikaku and Shoho south straight away in order to cut off any possible Allied re-inforcement of PM. The one thing the Allies never get enough of is transports, even in scn 17 the last thing I would want to do is waste any in landing ground forces on PM that are doomed to capture......

P.S. Ike - If you fancy a game with your settings and me playing as the Allies let me know - unless you get the Autovictory you will lose.........

edit....D'oh you will need my email! PMiller4473@aol.com

Miller the Killer is going to open a pair of eyes in this game.  I played against him, was clobbered and learned a lot.  Some day we might do a return match and then I'll, hopefully, do better.

Cool! I am NW7B. Look me up at QRZ.com. I looked you up and we were born the same year. I also have not been very active for about two years as my transceiver stopped working on 40 and 80 meters. [;)] My friends are active on those two bands, of course. [&:]

Miller the Killer is going to open a pair of eyes in this game.

You wish too continue Todd? Very well...because your such a big fan of house rules (that's fine, to each his own) and as everyone knows you play with the houserule of no more than 4 ASW ships in a TF....perhaps you can explain to me how you got 5 and 6 in ASW TF in our game?

Even you took note of this in your own email when my Battleships went down to Gavigamana to bombard and swept them saying you don't know how that happened. You said the game must have combined them.

Yes or no?

I said nothing, I didn't question, I just kept playing.

Or do you wish to call me a liar again saying that didn't happen like you didn't offer me another game after that one...or you forget? Which one?

Maybe it was the ¨Tocaff Bug¨ again that makes CAP not fly and supplies disappear OR my submarines were causing you such trouble?

Strange...I've played this game for 3 months almost everyday and I've never had my CAP not fly when set, my supplies dissapear on ships or my fleets combine on their own at sea.

Hmmmm.

Everything bad that has happened to me in the game I caused-but I'm not one to fall back on excuses.

I think perhaps it is you who need to check your own ego because it seems to me you REALLY don't like losing.
Sorry Joe, you're correct and I'll stop here and now. My bad...

You need to take your own earlier advice, your falling further behind in the points my friend. I'm not going to respond to your insults directed my way anymore Todd because your really starting to bore me with this.

Hi Miller, yes I do fancy a game. Unlike the picture Todd is trying to paint of me here, I play more for the fun of the game than to win and ego. Why else would I prefer a game where the universal opinion is the Japanese can't win? I do like it historic. I enjoy the game, the challenge and the competition. That's what PBEM is for and it seems someone can't handle that. I've read some of your AAR's and know your a very good experienced player. Should be interesting.

The glove is thrown. I'll send my 1st turn.

PS-will you be defending Port Moresby or pulling out? I'd like to know. [;)][:D]

Ike,

Excuse me, but all I said was Miller the Killer would open a pair of eyes.  You are not going to bait me with any remarks, true or not, that you make.  Be cool and enjoy your game.  I wish you well.

Miller and I have an agreement in our game. he doesn't mind me ¨gloting¨ on victories and I don't mind him ¨gloating¨ victories so no one get the wrong impression. This is all just in fun...[8D]

Ike

Maybe you should run an AAR, which I might add that you do quite well, on this game.

Hi Todd.

I've got one going with Lopo. I will leave that to Miller if he wishes and has time. Maybe pull a few more PBEM players up from WitP.
