Some of those are pretty good, and some are really lame. The one where Tex Hill shoots down a Nate when he was in the AVG for instance. Sheesh.

Yeah.. the F-86 one was great.. chasing the Mig all the way back to base and shooting it down over its own runway.. Cool.

The Mig pilot most certainly thought different...

Don't know if it was a scheduling error of Directv or not, but last weekend I was watching an episode of "Dogfights" and it was not about aircraft at all!!. The program was about the American DD Johnston taking on the Japanese CA's and BB's coming thru Leyte Gulf.. Very heroic action and I have wanted to tape it since, but of course I keep looking under "Dogfights" and not finding it.
Like I said, possible programming error.

The previews had Taffy 3 Vs the IJN BB "Yamamoto" for a while. They fixed it 1-2 days before it aired.

The narrow-minded twit! Then what would we do 50 years later for entertainment on a Saturday afternoon?

Not a programming error. That actually is an episode of the first season, titled "Death of the Japanese Navy". The first season is out on DVD, I know NetFlix has it.

As for favorites, I have to admire the F-8 Crusader pilot who, all alone, shot down or drove off multiple MiGs until he was one-on-one with the last one then, out of missiles and with his guns jammed, instead of bugging out kept on "dogfighting" just to teach the NV pilot a lesson and "because I could". [X(] (Then again, you could say it worked because when he did finally bug out the MiG didn't even try to pursue him.)

Well..that MiG pilot crashed on the flight line and wiped out like 5 to 10 other MiGs..so unfortunately for him he is unlikely to have any opinion on the matter at all from beyond the grave. But he was a great pilot, if the show was accurate.

Just remember, these recreations are not terribly accurate - like the one they had of the SBD pilot shooting down Zeros at the Coral Sea (iirc) - which apparently never really happened once people looked at the actual losses.

But they can be entertaining! [:'(]

I meant to bump this earlier but got caught up in other things.  At any rate, tonight was the night the second season started.  As I'm typing this it will show in about half an hour on the West Coast, so its too late for everyone else.

The Military Channel has had a few good shows lately.  One on Carrier creation from day 1 and it's evolution.  The Ten Best series is fun to see.  I taped the guns and fighters one. Haven't seen those two. The warships and the bomber one I had seen before.  The Carrier show pretty much said everyhting that's been said here..;)
