TCP/IP and Loading Autosave

Post by Forwarn45 »

I have a game where I am playing the Allies and the Axis is hosting. For some reason, the game didn't get saved when we stopped at the beginning of the next Axis turn - but it looks like I have an autosave from when we quit. I am guessing the autosave is from the end of my Allied turn. Is it possible for us to use this autosave? We tried once to switch and make me host and have the Axis player join, but it didn't seem to work. Can someone tell me if it is possible to make this work and - if so - how?

I would imagine this situation would arise periodically in all games where there is a crash and you want to reload from the end of the non-hosting player's turn. Anyway, any help is appreciated. [:)]

The host in a loaded tcpip game will be the side that saved, so unless you can host then it is preferrable that the opponent load a save from his turn.

I have been able to host before without problem as Axis. Per my original post then, in this game I should be able to host the continuation of the game as Allies with the autosave - even if we started the game with the Axis as the host?

No sorry, when you host a save you get the side that is currently moving. But since both players have an autosave there should not be a problem?

Im a litttle confused still, so here is the review -

- Game starts with my opponent hosting as the Axis.

- Game ends after the Allied turn (at beginning of next Axis turn). My opponent has the autosave from the Axis turn (that does not include the Allied turn), and I have the most current autosave from the end of the Allied turn (that includes everything we did before we quit).

- To continue where we left off, we want to use the Allied autosave rather than the Axis autosave.

So when we continue and reload the game, can we switch and make myself (the Allied player) the host using the Allied autosave even though the game was started with my opponent (Axis player) as host?

No, you cannot so you have to load the save from one turn earlier.
