Somewhat OT: Live Earth Concerts

Post by KG Erwin »

Now playing in London -- Red Hot Chili Peppers. Sound good -- Flea is one of my favorite bass players.

Anyway, the MSN webcast quality is excellent -- no droputs, no delays on my cable ISP.

Once again, let's steer clear of any politics -- I'm watching it for the music.

Let the music, and the drinks, flow. Enjoy it, guys.

Metallica! Love Hetfield's beard -- they sound excellent.

Whoa-- they're playing my favorite tune of theirs right now -- "Enter Sandman".

And to follow them -- the infamous Spinal Tap -- how appropriate. Will the drummer explode? [:D]

"Big Bottom" -- yes, I'm a bassplayer, so this took me into bottom heaven. An homage to booty and bunda. Beautiful. [:D]

This whole event is really unique. I'm having a blast rotating between the continents. The cause is good, and the organization of it all is simply astounding. This is truly a global event of unprecendented proportions.

More -- outstanding performances by so many bands. They raised the bar for this, and so far, there have been no noticeable gaffes.

One other thing -- security. No problems. I am so thankful for this.

Careful, gunny. This IS about protecting the environment, but it's umbrellaed by the music. I don't want any politics to spoil it.

I got one comment about German vocalists, though. Even if they're singing about love, it sounds like they're giving commands. "Lieben Sie mich"! Sorry, that was a poor attempt at humor.

Just what the world needs, musicians to save it. Thank god they're on the case. After all the years of success with hunger, 3rd world debt and apartheid, it will be only a matter of moments before the environment is secure in perpetuity.

What would become of us without spoiled rockstars to promote their records on tv

Yep. This is what we've turned into. Some good tunes, though. Remember, no politics allowed as we dance our way into oblivion.

Nein! It's serious, but the admins here don't want to deal with it.  I know the forum rules, and this is stretching them .  Just watch--don't comment.

Also, I heard a rumor Mad Season was going to show up with Staley in a casket....
environmentally friendly one at that.
It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

So let me get this straight.  Mobs of zillionaires are leaving their palatial estates to fly in on private jets so they can tell the rest of us how we need to restrict ourselves to one square of toilet paper per visit and start riding bicycles?

So they have to destroy the planet in order to save it?  And one of the featured artists is "Yusef Islam" the guy who thinks anyone who disses the prophet deserves to be murdered?

Sounds just like Woodstock to me.[8|]

Agh, despite everything, the highlight for me was watching 25 or so bassplayers lined up to perform Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom".

Revisit it here: http://entimg.msn.com/i/ExperienceData/ ... ndon&ch=57
