RE: Don't use Batch loading

Post by siRkid »

Ok I gave this a try several weeks ago and could not get it to run. I have a request forthe designer. Can you please start a new thread with current links to the latest files with instructions on how to install the various parts?  I know its all in here somewhere but trying to go through 18 pages is making my head hurt.

Kid, its on page 1. ya dont need to read all the pages. but its worth

Just go to page 1, download the .zip file, install it. read the manual careful.

replace the witpdecoder2.jar file with the 04c.jar file and rename it to witpdecoder2.jar like described. install the database ( witpdecoder does this automatically when you load up a game for the first time in a new folder/save game. remeber each savegame needs a new folder &installation of a databse.

if ya get trouble downloading a jar file, get a better browser ( i.e. throw M$ IE in the trash can ) or use the right mouse button.

it all explained on page 1 and in the manual. and a 100 times between page 2 and 17 [;)]

the page 1 shows the actual files aviable.imho there is no need to have 1000 threads explaining always the same. everything needed is here in this thread and I think it is easier for all of us having things together.

ah, dont forget to have the actual java RT version installed first !
witp decoder even works out for my game started with 1.3 some years ago ! [&o]

Hi all,

I have still problems to get my Industry displayed :(
This I have done till now:
1. Downloaded the witpdecoder.zip
2. Created a Subfolder for my PBEM game  \SAVE\analysis
3. Extracted the files into this folder
4. Edited password and it works fine
6. Placed WitpLoader.exe in SCEN folder
7. Executed batch file
8. Selected File> Initialize Database
9. Entered the following information
· Scenario – 155
· Nationally – Japan
· Checked the PBEM box
11. Selected Initialize
12. So Far So Good
13. Loaded save file
14. Everything works except Industry

I'm using clusterbases.csv and clusters.csv from SCEN 160 and I put them in the \analysis-folder together with the witpdecoderfiles.
I modyfied clusters.csv from -1,"CHS 160, AB Ext Map" to -1,"CHS 155, AB Ext Map" for my Scenario and replaced the witpdecoder2.jar file with the 04c.jar file and renamed it to witpdecoder2.jar like described.
Once I erased all clusters and bases which are not under my control like discribed in one of the posts, but it didn't help.
And I RTFM :) but I don't know what I did wrong.

Thanx in advance

Could you be more specific how things are not working? Did you have a look at witpDecoder.log?

A few comments on your trials to get it working (which I find great, better try first on your own then asking obvious questions here):
I modyfied clusters.csv from -1,"CHS 160, AB Ext Map" to -1,"CHS 155, AB Ext Map" for my

Once I erased all clusters and bases which are not under my control like discribed in one of the posts, but it didn't help.

Note that except for the displayed heading and the fact that it must exist the "-1" line does not carry any functionality. Thus it can not be the reason for your problem.

And this erasing thing might be posted by people but is nevertheless unnecessary. WitpDecoder knows which bases are yours.

Hi,

if you have the same problem displaying the industry as i had, try to put the .csv files in the same directory with witpdecoder and delete the four witp files (witp.backup, witp.data, witp.script and witp.properties). Than try start the witpdecoder and initialize again.
This tip from Wooz helped me to use this great tool.

I have deleted the previous map i made and made a new one.
Just called it 192. Also a map wich i called 15.
Both do run now as they should be. Dont no why it worked this
time, but hey, computers work in mysterious ways i guess.
Ty for your help anyway [;)]

I have another question . Its about the leaders. They do appear,
but when i filter them with hq,army, gen , it still gives all the generals it has.
Thus also the lgen. Is that weird or (most likely) do i something wrong here ?

No, intentionally you will always get the rank you choose plus the one below it. Reason: That's what you typically need as ships, LCUs, ... allow the selection of leaders from two neighbouring ranks.
Alas for air groups this is no longer true.

I have a 9 meg version of subchasers map (I think) that I have used for Main Map and Bigmainmap and it works great. I can see everything in the hexes for support and repair clearly.

OMG, Skyros! What a fantastic idea! I have a 2.75 meg version of Subchasers map that I put in my WitPDecoder folder and renamed. Everything looks beautiful and is very east to see. [&o]

You are correct that WitpDecoder will accept any image you give the appropriate name as map (and (hopefully) scale things appropriately). Just a few words of warning:
  • Using a bigger map is completely untested. Especially its effects on memory consumption and drawing speed. So don't complain about the VM constantly garbage collecting or something.
  • It took a long time to tune the positioning of things on the map to actually go into the right hexes. And I'm still not sure it works everywhere. So if you use an image where the map is differently cut (e.g. one row of hexes less or a border around the map) you run the risk that markings are drifting.

I always used Subchasers maps sionce their initialized release as I am a great fan of his arts. not much a problem at all. sometimes it seems that a ship creats 9 icons being on the same port and it looks some strange but this really doesnt matter to me at all. and yes , it takes some time but it works just beautiful !

@ NSCU

here is your answer , taken from page 1 :

"Now updated to V0.4c. Main new feature is the Map Overview Tab which gives info on search coverage, ship repair utilization and support levels. Download the updated .jar file, rename it to witpDecoder2.jar and overwrite your current .jar file with it."

this is no zip file ! get a real browser (see above) -  it has been explained almost on every page.

Woos or anyone else who could help, I don't have the Naval Search function or Support Levels in the Map Overview tab, although I used to??? Am I missing some csv files? And while I'm at it, where should all the csv files be located, in the sub-directory under Save? Lastly, how many should I have? 14 are currently showing. Thanks.

Well, when in doubt, reboot, which fixed the Naval Search and Support. But my questions about the number and placement of csv files stands.

Also, what should I do about the leaders leading more than one unit, or units that have either no leader or a foreign one? Obviously I could replace them using political points, but that's expensive in that I have more than 20 instances of the above.

First My Englishman is bad.

I want to make work the witpdecoder in the scene 157.
I download witpdecoder.zip and witpload.zip and unzip in folder .\War in the Pacific\SAVE\157
I download witpDecoder2.jar last version 0.4c
I copy witpload in scen game folder, and with cmd execute   witpload /e /s157 and create
WITPair157.csv
WITPcls157.csv
WITPdev157.csv
WITPgrp157.csv
WITPldr157.csv
WITPloc157.csv
WITPplt157.csv
WITPshp157.csv
WITPtabs.csv
rename all Without 157 and copy in witpdecoder folder
Modify  cluster.csv  in .\clusterDefinitions\scenario160ByFeurerKrieg
-1,"CHS 160, AB Ext Map" to -1,"CHS 157, AB Ext Map" and copy in decoder folder  clusterbases.csv and cluster.csv
Edit witpdecoder.bat for password
Execute witpDecoder2.jar and error
"Ship class 621 claims more than 127 torpedos available.
Looks a bit much (and can't be stored in a byte) so I'm using 127.
Maybe check back with the mod designer, if there is an error?"

Where is the problem?
Step for step de response please.
Thank you

That ship class does have an error in the CHS database. You should be able to just ignore it, and WitPDecoder will work fine. If you want, you can edit the senario file and change the ammo amount from 36 to 2.
