The weather called Night

Post by MengCiao »

I'm looking at the Crusader scenario and thinking of trying to Modify a few things. For example: what about some darkness? Could you do this with a bad weather state that
happens every other turn. The weather could reduce movement and fire combat effectiveness. Is this a feasable modification or far more trouble than it is worth?

The quick answer is ... night turns is feasable.  In one of the BiN/BiI user created scenario's there was night turns.  Personally I think it makes the game better to have night turns.  I can't remember the sce but it may be "Patton - Master of Battle" ... maybe, ... going from memory.  ... and if I do remember correctly, the night turn map darkened ... and movement allowance was decreased at night.

I started a sce a long time ago in a land far away and I was going to set it up for 8 hour turns, two day turns and one night turn - for a summer time battle I was thinkng about doing.  Maybe 12 hour turns would work well with winter battles.

There's a lot to be said for having night turns even if they are usually uneventful...particularly in the desert where infantry moving by day would be
pretty vulnerable. A bonus for infantry attacking at night would be useful too,
though you might have to figure out a way to limit it..perhaps a form of
transport that only works at night? As in "they put on their night shoes and
headed for Bir Gott el Cheba."
