This game needs forts.

Commander – Europe at War Gold is the first in a series of high level turn based strategy games. The first game spans WW2, allowing players to control the axis or allied forces through the entire war in the European Theatre.

This game needs forts.

Post by Copper »

As of right now, retreating is nigh impossible, your units will just end up being slaughtered. I think fort should be allowed to be constructed, at a steep cost in production, and oil. But if you set up a line of forts, and then after being whipped in battle retreat behind them to rest and regroup, it would increase the amount of strategy in the game. Forts could also be a constant drain on production, and oil throughout their existence.

I strongly agree forts are necessary. I dont care if we use SC2 system of making an engineer or simply pay for the fort and then place it.

No clue why they would use oil. I certainly dont think they drive around much.

Then we can build the Atlantic wall and maybe even design amph instead of the silly system presently in place. Float your unit to disembark point. Sit it there for 20 days to be bombed then try to land after opponent had oppertunity to move unit in position so you must again move and wait another 20 days.

well the oil sginfies the oil used by the jeeps and bull dozers, and cranes and such that would build it, and keep it running.

Sorry still see no need for oil use.  Not that I have ever seen a shortage of oil in any game so you can use it for anything but this would be a strange use.  Once a fortifcation is built you really dont need equipment to maintain it.  Concrete really doesnt fall apart in a short period of the war.

Still forts are a good idea but just a plain cost would be fine it still comes from units and tech just one more place to spend.  Options are always good.

Anti Ship guns is a unique idea.

Does anyone have any knowledge of Anti Ship guns emplaced in the bunkers defending the French coast in Africa?
