Heya!

I had the good fortune to be able to go and hang out with the Matrix team at this years Origins, though I had to leave a day early.

Great bunch of guys. The forum sort of gives you a feel for it, but meeting them in person is a big difference. Also shatters that mental image you get working on a forum with people. I missed on most points on that one, lol. Specifically, Tom Proudfoot and Marc Schwanebeck (sp?) looked nothing like I expected.

There were steady streams of gamers trying out the games at the display. They seemed thrilled, and I often noticed people returning to play some more of a particular game, or bringing a friend/parent back to show them a game.

My thanks to David and Matrix for having the Depot come along and help out. They made us feel right at home. I had a very good time, and will likely be there in 2008! [8D]

From everything I've read, it sounds like Origins is something I'm going to have to check out at some point.

In all honesty, I pictured an older German businessman-type. Maybe a bit serious and stuffy, rail thin, with glasses.

By the way, Marc reminds me of a young football player (as far as build goes. American Football.), has earings, and probably rakes in the women without trouble, so I missed on my mental image. He is also quite friendly - no stuffiness detected. [;)]

What did you expect about Goblin? [X(]

Yeah, but this is what happens if you let him "handle" the logistics - more specifically the liquid portion of it :

Keep him on water and dry biscuits and he might start looking like that nice guy 2nd from the left in this picture :

Green skin, long ears, you know .... [;)]

Not a young man with a cowboy hat. But same goes for Bernie. Nowhere near close what I expected, LOL.

That's quite the Weizenbier glass there! Marc, are you sure you weren't straining to keep your eyes open in that shot? ;)

Nope, IRL it was only 9 PM and we were on our first beer (of how many I'm not saying [8D]) - and I'm keeping the 2 AM picture in a folder marked "Schwanebeck, Marc - blackmail stuff" [:D]

After 15, maybe yes. That evening was not even close to struggling.
