North Africa Camp. Axis unit realease

Post by STIENER »

got a question for you about the north African campaign.........
there is a restricted zone where the axis reinforcments come on just before rommel arrives.
its turn 21............rommel arrives on turn 25.........but now on turn 21 i have axis unts starting to come on.......but i cant get them to move past the excluded hexs that start at hex 9,100
that zone is supposed to stop the allies from moving right in to tripoli?
there is also a resticted zone 2 that is a TO but that is 20 hexes away and thats not the problem.
any ideas?

I assume you are referring to my "Campaign for North Africa 40D-43" scenario. If so, from the briefing:

"Also, restriction zone 2 now also protects the Axis reinforcement area. It is automatically removed on turn 29, but the Axis player has a theater option to remove it earlier, if desired."

So, if you exorcise the Theater Option to remove zone 2, zone 2 will be removed. You will lose the protective benefit of that zone, of course. But you will be free to move any units behind it onto the action areas. You may also still be protected by the marked boundary 20 hexes from the Axis reinforcement hex, if its effects haven't been canceled (see the news reports).

thanks curtis.....yes it is the 40D to 43 scenario.....but i did exorcise the restriction to zone 2 and i still cant get my units to move out. zone 2 in my understanding is only the 20 hex zone? and thats to keep the allies away from tripoli.
if i have to wait till turn 29 then it would not be historically correct.......as all my axis reinforcments would not even be up to marble arch where alot landed before rommel arrives on turn 25.
maybe if i exorcise the TO this tuen 21 then maybe on turn 22 i can move past the excluded hexes by 9,100?

Be sure you understand how Theater Options are exorcised: Push the button on the option so that it turns from green to red. Leave it that way. On the next interturn computation phase the option will be exorcised. They are not exorcised the instant you push the button.

The Theater Option to remove zone 2 refers to exclusion zone 2 that encircles the Axis reinforcement area. The boundary marked 20 hexes from that area is not affected by that option. (I can see how this is confusing to people).
