Tokyo Rose (Dixie) has sent out a new propaganda bulletin:
TOKYO RADIO, 15th December 1941
The forces of the United Nations continue to be pushed back across the Pacific and Southern Resource Area regions. Japanese forces have landed at several locations, defeating the weakling imperialist defenders wherever they have tried to stand and fight. In a series of surface and air battles two American cruisers and an aircraft carrier have been sunk south of Borneo whilst trying to attack our naval forces. In the Northern Java Sea 5 enemy destroyers were sunk without loss by valiant crews of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Force.
We offer you this chance men of the Allied armies, surrender now before it is too late. Malaya is surrounded, there can be no reinforcements for you. Give up now and you will live. There is no escape, there shall be no Dunkirk at Singapore....
To Tokio Rose:
Aloha STOP look STOP straight STOP your STOP pilots STOP wear STOP glasses STOP

Gents, a naval battle occured today SE of Sandakan.. our two Cruisers managed to beat a big enemy surface TF...The heroes
CL Boise

CA Houston

Night Time Surface Combat at 37,60
Japanese Ships
CA Maya, Shell hits 2, on fire
CA Ashigara, Shell hits 5, on fire
CL Kuma, Shell hits 1, on fire

DD Matsukaze, Shell hits 1
Allied Ships

CL Kuma, Shell hits 1, on fire

Allied Ships

CL Boise, Shell hits 3, on fire
Too bad the ships have really small chances of getting out of the region filled with Japs, especially now when, as we suspected, CVE Hosho and CVL Zuiho have showed up... and a Japanese invasion forces are heading towards Tarakan where the two cruisers managed to flee.
From the other news:
Our pilots managed to locate a few bombs in Japanese ships, one light cruiser was probably hit by four bombs.
One Jap sub went to the bottom N of PH. Oil stains and lot of garbage was had been observed on the sea after a succesful ASW attack.
Anyways we had a small party yesterday and are worred about the outcome of the planned with bubbles in the head turn...[:'(]

RE: 12/11/1941... Tarawa Invaded!!!
This seems to be a very interesting AAR, I'm playing allies in a similar setup (CHS), also in the 2nd week of the hostilities.
It seems I got Houston/Boise safely out of the PI were they were hunted by three groups of BB/CA and Mini KB after successfully damaging a jap CL and disrupting landings in southern Luzon. Like cat and mouse but it seems I made it, hope you get them out safely as well.
Btw. Houston is missing the Radar, makes naval engagements a bit risky, esp. at night. But as you said, psychology is important, they need to feel some teeth!
I also hit a landing force at Tarawa although with a carrier as my captain seems not to be as dumb as yours was. Sometimes you just gotta love bad weather, eh?
But the best thing so far was a premature landing of japanese forces at Rabaul without CV cover. Cost them an old CL, some PC and AP against ANZAC CA/CL forces and a later carrier strike. Still hunting down the remnants. Question is how to get rid of the stranded jap LCU's, they aren't strong enough to take the base but I'm not strong enough to kill them either...
Would be interesting to learn how you plan to set up your defences in the DEI. [;)]

If you gained knowledge through the forum, why not putting it into the AE wiki?

RE: 12/15/1941... Am I a fairy?
Gents, bad news... well the party was tragic in consequences... lost a few good ships thanks to my stupidity... anyways...
Boise and Houston were sunk, but oh well I knew this is going to happen. Now everything is going on as I have suspected and told about it some time ago. However I did think it's going to happen a week later.[8|]

Well as we have suspected Jap is pushing form the South, he doesn't even need a Northern Strike force since he has bombers at Kuching. We need to evac the fleet from the region for now.
No other significant events apart from the bombardment of Kuantan by a Japanese TF.

Gents, the enemy bombed Kuantan from the sea again, and his eyes are focused at Georgetown right now since it has been bombed from air the whole day.
A Jap TF has been sighted moving towards Amboina... The Navy is on the way to intercept.
Japanese aircrafts continue to rage over Borneo.

RE: 12/17/1941... Battle of Nanumea!
Gents, we have bad news and more bad news.
Our Cruisers that were located in the Elica Islands managed to intercept a Japanese TF compromising of a the CVL Ryujo, three heavy cruisers and six destroyers. During the battle all of the Japs, except for Ryujo, got hit by our shells. Three destroyers were All enemy destroters were burning and three of them may have serious problems with getting to their bases which we really wish them. Unfortunately our CL Achilles became the main target for the enemy and caught a torpedo. He is severly damaged and we he won't make it to the base in the opinion of it's captain but the crew is doing its best. If it wasn't for the Ryujo they might have some chances.

HMNZS Leander despite of few hits is fully operational.

After the battle.
Well no we managed to show the Japanese what kind of sailors they are without their planes.[:'(]
However we should not celebrate since the TF that we managed to intercept had a mission and the mission was probably to hunt dowm our shipping in the region or raid Fiji or Canton? Maybe it's a cover for another TF that is to Bombard our positions in the region? We need to watch out for it. Another problem are the Japanese subs that are for sure lurking somewhere in the region.
Now let us move more to the West to the Celebes region.

Only bad news or worse news. Japs managed to capture Tarakan, the Dutch didn't even try to stand against them, just surrendered. Now Japanese TFs are heading for Balikapapn, we hope that they will at least hit a few of our mines that we positioned there a few days ago. Manado is still holding, N of it Zuiho had been observed. Bad news if it's sailing SE to cover Amboina landing.
We are in the process of posiioning our subs in the S entry to the Java Sea.
Enemy forces land on New Guinea!
The odds of the war are against us... for now.
Dixie is a demanding opponent and I'm really enjoying this game.

RE: 12/18/1941...
Gents, the enemy is cutting like a knife through our defences. He managed to capture a few bases today with the biggesr loss to us: Amboina. Well nothing special happened today, apart from the fact that our forces started a small offensive in China but this will be described during our next meeting. Since we are short on time today.

RE: 12/18/1941...
Another possible suggestion for you. I am spending the PP (less than 200 for both) to move the two BF's on Tasmanai back to Australia (via Sydney to fill out their TOE some more) and then "hopefully" up to Cooktown or Portland Roads (it is a dot base right now, but can expand to AF7 and is only 6 hexes away from PM [:D]). Easy distance for B-25/25 to launch and Dakota's to airlift supplies to PM if needed. I know that is down the road, but this option is not available in stock and I wanted you to be aware of it (if you wern't already).

I am agree with ny59giants. I ever send these BF´s from Tasmania to Cooktown-Caims to get more air support in this base to let airlift to Port Moresby with C-47. Try to avoid any japanese landing at Thursday Island, it could be an headache
Cheers !

Thanks to both of you, I'm going to do so straight away![:)]
And the dot base itself caught my attention, but now I know what to make out of it.[:)]

RE: 12/19/1941... Plans Plans Plans...
Gents... so far we managed to lose bases and retreat to the future holds. However our Chinese friend "Peanut" informed us about his plans for attacking Ichang and Nanchang.

The situation in China

"Peanut"
We shall see what the outcome shall be.
Japanese Commanders located bombers at Amboina, this complicates our situation in the region but our Bombardment TFs are on the way and hopefully they will damage the AF and maybe even knock out a few Jap planes.

What really makes me pull my hair out are the damn small japanese subs with that even more damn planes that sniff around and try to find out as much as they can about my shipping and bases. I have to get rid of them but for now they are hard to locate. Anyways speaking of subs... we are now pulling quite a nice number of them to secure Soerabaja.

I am using the higher endurance (11,000 to 18,000) American subs from Pearl and those coming in as reinforcements in Minelaying TF of 2 or 3 to drop off their "surprises" [:D] and then head over to the SRA to assist in evac of needed fragments. The Gato Class have other "classified" missions to conduct. [;)]

well those subs from PH are currently starting to play with surprises and then will be sent to SRA for the time being... later they will patrol somewhere else.[:)] (where needed that is).

RE: 12/20/1941... Plans Plans Plans...
Gents, peace and quiet in the Pacific...
Our raid on Amboina became a failure since the enemy managed to position some Coasta Defense units in the base, we lost one Dutch Destroyer and rest of the ships are more or less damaged. However we evacuated the rest of American B-17's from the PI region to Darwin with an intent to bomb the Amboina AF more level bombers en route from Sydney.
Supplies are slowly starting to reach PH and sail further towards OZ. Same goes for Java but here we supply the Island from Bombay.
That would be all for now Gents.
