MATRIX - Your search function is buggered

Post by JudgeDredd »

I meant to post this many months ago, but forgot.

Anytime I use your search function for your forums, it finds nothing.

As an example, try searching for the word "progress" in the General Discussion forum...nothing is returned and yet that word is in the sentence in the thread Dale Dye's "Pacific War" Blog

I expect it may be timing out...whatever the cause, it isn't working...

There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

Back in line Marine [:@]

Has this been common knowledge then? I haven't ever seen it posted or has it been broke for so long I wasn't even registered here?

Everyone has trouble with the search...some have better luck when limiting the dates that it searches I think...

Search is lost...hopelessly...

I've been complaining about this, off and on, for about a year and a half.

Try searching the forums for a work-around.

Try using Google with "matrix games" in the search. Google is better than the Ebay search too.

Eddie, I don't know how you did it, but I've just ran the search again and it did work...and that's the first time in over a dozen attempts I was able to get any results from a search.

Have you been twiddling with the backend?

Mental note : never, ever be so lazy again and screen-capture my entire desktop instead of the relevant portion as there's no hiding from the snoops in here [:D]

Hi guys, is this still an issue?

I just did the same search for "progress", and it returned a whole set of results first time with no additional parameters set.

Is it working for you?

Notice that Eddy clicked on General Discussion. I've had better luck picking a category and no luck with the top choice, Search All Forums
Conflict of Heroes "Most games are like checkers or chess and some have dice and cards involved too. This game plays like checkers but you think like chess and the dice and cards can change everything in real time."

It's hit or miss though. I did a quick check on the word "cooperation" in the TOAW III forums, and on the first try, got no results found. Then, I did a search on "graphics" in the same forums and got a bunch of results. Then I did a search on "communication" in the same forums and got a bunch of results. Then, I did a second search on "cooperation" exactly the same as I had done two minutes earlier, and this time got a bunch of results.

Hit or miss...
