demo/ tutorial question

AGEOD’S American Civil War - The Blue and the Gray is a historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

demo/ tutorial question

Post by Duck Doc »

I downloaded the 1.05b demo & started doing the tutorials. Everything goes well until I come to the 'Gathering of the Armies'. I am able to merge at Henry all except the detached brigades of the Nashville force (eg. 1st Col. Brigade, Kentucky Volunteers, Nash Artillery) into Prentiss's 6th Division of Sherman's Corps by the 'drag & drop' method. All are unlocked.

I would appreciate any & all advice.

Wonderful game!

The question was about merging units. In the tutorial it asks the player to merge some independent units into a division & I cannot get them to merge.

The thing is that you gather units into a division with a special order (+ button on the panel), not by drag & drop (this is explained in the tutorial but it is easy to miss a part, and all are importants)

The answer was, as Philippe said, to add units to a division you can't drag & drop but you must do this:

"Procedure: To form a Division, first select a general and press the ‘Enable Divisional Command’ button. Then select the units and the general to be included in the Division and click the “Create Division” Special Order. You can break down a Division into its constituent units at any time and without any penalty." - from the game manual, pg. 22.

I just broke down the 6th division & then selected Prentiss & CTRL-L clicked all I wanted to be in his division then hit the button in the orders panel on the left with the "+" sign on it. A new division was formed with Prentiss commanding. The tutorial instructions are a little confusing here but not a big deal. Sounds like you got it on your own.

My mind was made up to purchase the game in the middle of the first tutorial. The demo sealed the deal for me although the rave reviews were hard to ignore also [:D].
