CAP fuel/arm Query

Post by decaro »

When I'm playing the Allies in the Phillipine Sea/Saipan Invasion scenario, I don't want to fuel and arm all my planes as I am under constant LBA attack -- esp. in the kamikazee variant -- for most of the game and don't want my flight decks filled w/bombs.
Besides, the IJN CV TFs don't show 'til late in the scenario.

(One nice thing about kamikazees is that when they miss, these planes don't get a second chance.)

Anyway, I still need a heavy CAP; if I move my slider to 50% plus CAP but don't arm all my planes via the buttons @ the bottom left of the Carrier/AB screen, will my CAP still be effective, i.e., does setting the CAP slider assume these planes will be fueled and armed even if the SBDs/TBF/Escort aren't?

Also: How do I get the optional quick order for cruise speed to appear @ the right of the TG slider?

Quick select of Cruising Speed.

When you open the game, go to the Options screen - select "Other Options" - then make sure the "Show TG nominated speed" button is ticked. In the game the button should appear. I never play without it.

You may also not be aware that you can set your own cruising speed for any TG. Drag the rectangular slider to the desired cruising speed (that's the slider button with the propeller icon). If you then Right-Click on the button the cruising speed will update to the new speed. You will see the speed in knots on the circular button change.

I hope thuis helps.

Thanks; I found the option, and the cruise button now appears.

I'll also answer my first question, which was kind of dumb; since I can see cross-hairs -- indicating it was lost to my CAP -- over destroyed enemy aircraft, and find fighters assigned to CAP on the Carrier/Air Base page, I'm going to assume that just moving the slider to set the CAP fuels and arms these fighters even if I don't hit the arm buttons for the rest of the CV's aircraft.

Does that sound logical to you?
