Color codes

Post by Bernie »

Okay, here's a question for anyone who can answer it. When purchasing units for a battle the units are color coded. It's pretty obvious that green means you can buy it, and red means it's not availible, but what the heck does yellow mean?

And also, when listing units during and after a battle, some units show up as green, others as red, and it doesn't seem to relate to anything I can tell. I've seen destroyed, routed, supressed, etc units in all three colors (R, Y, G), so what do the colors mean?
What, me worry?

Bernie: I gonna make a waq on this and I'll probably be wrong:

Red....core force
Green..Aux
Yellow....Reserves (color will change to R or G after they enter board)

This is the way I've looked at them on the roster. Watch this forum cause if I'm wrong you'll get the answers. ;) :D

A Yellow color over the units name, means that the unit is obsolete, but you can still buy it.
I don´t really know how this affects campaign play (or even if it does) but it "might" mean that you cannot replace the unit if it is destroyed (or it might take more repair points to repair)

In the unit-list menu, as seen during or after the battle, the unit name in Red, means that the unit is destroyed, Yellow means it is off the map for one reason or another(Airplane, Fleeing etc.), and Green means that the unit is still alive and on-map (though it might be fleeing, pinned or whatever):D

I've seen more than a few "red" units in after game lists that were also "ready", as well as "greens" that were listed as "destroyed". I'll buy yellow meaning off the map, but the red and green aren't making sense.

I'm not sure, but I think that red units (in after game list, or in game roster) are units that are out of HQ link or something like that. Anyone ?

Regards.

Correct. Red units are out of contact (destroyed units being most definitely out of contact ;) ).

READ THE MANUAL!

Never thought to do that first? ;)

Page 8:

"If the unit name and number are green, then the unit is in
communication with its formation leader and can be rallied. If it is in red, it is out of communications."

Yellow are offboard units (either OB arty, air strikes or reinforcements)

Actually, I did think of reading the manual. However, I never noticed this until I got up to version 6.1 (and now 7.1) so I assuemed (yeah, I know about assuming) it wouldn't be mentioned in my v5.0 manual. :)
