Luftwaffe aircraft arrival dates/factory icons

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Hard Sarge,
I believe you are recalling the original B-17 Bomber game. I played that waaaaay back in the early days when 286 and 386 reigned supreme. I spent many saturday afternoons doing the Berlin drop. Yeah was a great game. You could not fly anything but the bombers. Had blast trying to get my damaged aircraft back on many missions. Wish those fire extinguishers had more in them...[8D] Lost a lot of aircraft due to fires I could not put out. I still have it I think on one of my older machines. Would like to get the new one. Wonder if it is so old that it is a free download now?

Later,

okay, that may be it, I had the 2nd one also, but may not of gotten as interested in it (I thinking, it was one of those, that if you lost your plane, you just popped into another one, which ruins the idea to me)

von Shagmeister,

By Crom's bloody blade, I think you've found them! Please send them to zbhughes ---at--- yahoo ---dot--- com. Trust me people, if you play BTR often, and you haven't tried these icons, you're gonna want them.

On a different note, I was digging through old stuff looking for a backup disk for the icons. I ended up finding an old PC game, B-17 Flying Fortress the Mighty Eighth by Microprose. I installed it, and it runs fine, with just a little sound clicking. It is a very detailed flight sim (like all Microprose products) that allows you to man all ten Fortress positions, fly Allied P47s, P-38s and P-51s, and Axis 109s 190sand 262s. There is a squadron commander campaign mode, and I think you can get promoted to BG commander. I've got all the documentation, luckily, since there's no way anyone could play it without it. Anyone else out there played/playing this game?

The stock version of this game was very buggy, you could not play it. And while the US version was fixed as I recall, there never was a patch for the german version so I stopped playing it rather soon. On top of that, the original versoin was never availible in germany.

I have always put "Mighty 8th" in the top tier of WWII Flight Sims. With the realistic settings on, it is simply a beast to survive. Also, the Me-262, P-47, 109 etc have some mind blowing Cockpits in extreme detail. I actually learned how (a 30-step process, or so) to get the engines started on a B-17, it is a beast at times, (Dead Reckoning, Norden Bombsight and all), but it is a Classic Sim!!

I thought Shockwave was reviving/updating "B-17"?

This is the icon set I use. Got it from JC's old forum. Made by Andrei perhaps ?

Uses symbols for what is produced rather than pics of rather similar looking factories.

Actually, Mighty Eighth was pretty cool. Played it quite a lot, and I also still have the documentation somewhere...

File sent as requested.

The attachment here is a .jpg They need to be a .bmp format

Incidently, although labelled "build0" they can also replace the "build1" set as well, allowing them to be used on the next zoomed in map level.
