Fleets

Post by Rapier »

I have looked all over the manual and the help doc and can't find anywhere how to create a 2nd 3rd etc. fleet from the default 1st fleet. I really need this b/c i usually have certain ships designated for certain missions: squadron for anti pirating, squadron for raiding, squadron for attacking, squadron full of "special" ships.

Also could you please tell me how to give these fleets certain missions such as a squadron of small ships for anti-pirating, so they will patrol systems with pirates in them so i don't have to tell them too.

any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

The button after the comms button (unit settings) will allow you to assign the ship selected to a fleet. Click on 1st fleet(default), enter a number and press enter. Do the same with all the ships you want in this fleet.

Now you can send a fleet on a patrol mission, to protect from pirates for instance but they'll be asking for another mission afterwards. You can send a single ship to patrol for pirates, you can do it with multiple ships but not with a fleet, correct me if i'm wrong.
And if you assign multiples ships on anti-pirate runs, they won't see it as fleet action and part ways.

Thank you Max.

However, somewhere in one of the tips it said that you could assign ships missions. Like you said you can send them to patrol a system with pirates, but that's just the thing, you have to tell them to. in the tip it said something about assigning them certain missions that they would go on when the problem arose. It said you could set the ship to several things like:

Automatically patrol systems with pirates

and a few others, However iremember the tip didn't explain how to do this it just said you could.

Yes, you can, for a single starship.
It's in the unit settings again, you can assign ships to constantly chase pirates.
