Incoming! New Commander – Europe at War Update

Post by Alex Fiedler »

PBEM improvements, balance changes and a whole bunch more zeroed in and ready to launch

Matrix Games and Slitherine Strategies (www.slitherine.com) are proud to announce the release of the first update for their successful World War II strategy game, Commander – Europe at War. This latest update will bring many improvements ranging from PBEM and TCP/IP multiplayer fixes and enhancements to interface tweaks, balance changes and much more.

Please note: There are two versions of this update available. One version is for those who have purchased Commander – Europe at War from the Matrix Games store and one is for those who purchased the game from the Slitherine store. You can download the Matrix Games version of the update from here and the Slitherine version from here.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Commander – Europe at War has met with tremendous success and enthusiasm. We are more than happy to continue to meet this demand by improving and expanding this great title to meet our fans’ needs.”

Iain McNeil from Slitherine Software added “Our developers have been hard at work creating this update to further build upon Commander – Europe at War. We’d like to thank Johan Persson and the rest of the staff at Firepower Entertainment for their continued support of the product and we are really excited to see what the future holds.”

Commander – Europe at War allows the player to command the armies of the Axis or the Allies in World War II. With only two goals at hand, survive and conquer, the player is charged with building and commanding the combined air, land and sea forces of his side. Advance your research to the cutting edge of technology in order to best your opponents and either conquer or liberate Europe!

Commander - Europe at War is easy to learn and elegant, but deep in strategy and hard to master. Players will find themselves glued to their chairs from the beginning when all mayhem breaks loose across the continent with the invasion of Poland in 1939. Research new technologies, manage your manpower reserves, improve your industry, husband your oil supply and manufacture armies, fleets, and bombers to use all available strategic and tactical might to bring about victory. Commander - Europe at War includes realistic combat resolution that models supply morale, terrain, leadership, equipment, training, strategic weapons and fog of war. To capture the immense scope and distance of WWII, Commander - Europe at War includes 6 epic scenarios with different starting points, including the famous Barbarossa campaign, D-Day, the battle for France, and finally the Grand Campaign that will let the player refight the entirety of the Second World War the way they see fit!

Both versions have always been there, but the sort order is based on date and time as to what shows up in the "Latest Downloads". As our webmaster uploaded the Slitherine version after uploading the Matrix version, the Slitherine version shows up in the list as the "latest download" for CEAW. If you look in the actual Downloads for the game or click through from the list, you see both update versions.

Before I update, does this invalidate current games?
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
