Adding a/c srf to a scenario (noob question)

Post by OwenS »

Hi! OK, I admit, I'm still learning the CAW editing system. I've downloaded some of the excellent *.srf's you folks have already posted, but I'm still confounded over how you edit a scenario so the aircraft shows up in the available a/c list. As an example, I wanted to add some B-29s to Midway to pull a Final Countdown with the Pearl Harbor strike force, but I can't work out how to edit the scenario file so they show up on my available aircraft list. I read the manual, but missed that part of the instructions.

Any help? Thanks!

Well okay; to add a SRF aircraft you place the SRF into your "resources/aircraft" directory

load CAW

EDITOR
LOAD a scenario
Change the name to something like "Midway B-29"
SAVE AS and change the name to "MidwayB-29.srf"
EDIT PLANE TYPES
NEW

Go over to Linka to find the stats for the B29

Enter those stats.

go back to edit menu

EDIT SQUADRONS

Pick a squdron; I like the 22BG Detachment; and change the aircraft type to "B29 Superfort"; also change the name to "22BG(VH)" for maximal realism

Save your work.
