Possible bug in rising Sun?

Post by dsawan »

Hi, i just played a scenario which I believe is one of the kwajalein ones with 17 turns. I encountered the follwoing error message midway thru. Its said rs.exe has encountered a problem and needs to exit or close. Any idea what causes this? First time i see this. Also when it exited to desktop, my taskbar turned green along with webpage.[:@]

I have had similar problems lately.  Last night I was playing the LCG Reap the Whirlwind when the game preformed an illegal operation and was forced to close.  Sadly I for got to turn auto save on and lost all my progress.  I will document it better if it happens again.

Thanks,
Duncan

Just had a similar problem with the first Home Island scenario..."On Sacred Soil"...in Japanese turn 3, I was playing the Allies vs. the Axis AI, the scenario completely freezes up and I have to exit the game...no error message, nada, just a deep, deep, freeze.

Have the same problem with the rs.exe. I played two scenarios, both with the error message!

Hmmm...while I absolutely appreciate the feedback and suggestion on how to fix...I am truly NOT a "computer  guy"...the last thing in the world I want to start doing is messing with the scenarios, and potentially ruining the game. Let's hope this becomes a 1.03 patch?

Thanks!

The Kwajalein scenario does not have any caves I can see. Maybe its something else. Any idea what was going on when this happened in these verious scenarios?
Axis turn, allied? Movement, firing, assault, indirect fire, airstrike?

Whoops...just realized I incorrectly called the scenario with which I was having trouble as "On Sacred Soil". The actual name is "On Hallowed Soil", it is the Kushikono, Kyushu Island scenario. Playing as the Japanese AI, in turn 3 during troop movements, just completely freezes up.

Thanks, and sorry for any confusion

The actual name is "On Hallowed Soil"

That scen has caves in it - so I'd chalk that up to the infamous cave bug.

Possibly. I think Wyatt has figured out what is causing the crash. If not the next one, hopefully the one following.

I've played four RS scenarios (3 tutorials + Burma Railroad - all as Allies) so far and have seen the 'RS.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'  message a couple of times.

The first time IIRC I clicked 'OK' and the game shut-down. The second time I moved the message to the very edge of screen and was able to continue playing to the scenario end.

I don't believe there were caves on any of these maps.

Hmm. Strange indeed. Are you using the 1.02B patch?

Ah. It seems not.

I downloaded the press version just a couple of days ago, but it looks like it needs 1.02 and 1.02B.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Hoping this is an easy question to answer. Have received the RS.exe error while playing "The Big Event" scenario around turn five. Read in another post that adjusting the compatibility to an earlier version of Windows and logging in as an administrator should help. So far no dice. Any suggestions, as I'm currently running Vista with ver1.4 patch.
