Assault troops / tanks?

What do you have to do first to be able to put R&D points into these?

Edit: Nevermind, the manual says. Level 2 trenches for assault and tanks.

Dregs of memory...have researched up to either lvl 2 entrench or arty.......not quite sure which tho

According to the manual, get the trench level to 2.
