On your desktop
 
Right click anywhere where there is no icon
 
Choose properties in the menu
 
Choose the settings tab in the display properties
 
Set the resolution to 1024 X 768
 
If you cant go any higher than 800 X 600 (which is where i am guessing you are at) then you need to check out your display drivers.
