Refuleing and more pilots than needed?
I have again two questions:
1. How can I refuel ships at sea? My opponent tells me there are two possibilitys. One of these possibilitys are replenishmentfleets. But what is the other one? He doesn't want to tell it to me, because I can use it against him - and I don't think he means to refuel the DDs by bigger ships. Does anyone know another possibility?
2. In an AAR I've seen a screenshot that was titled "a combat ready squadroon". There was shown a Ki-64 Sentai with 24 Planes - but 61 Pilots! The average XP was at 80! The advantages are easy to see: even if one looses Planes with pilots, the Sentai will stay combat ready because one simply has to replace the shot down planes... How to do that?

@1: He doesn't want to tell you? What sort of <expletive deleted> opponent is that?[X(] The small ships refueling from big ships IS the other option, by the way.
@2: You do that by putting two squadrons of the same aircraft type at the same base, and then disbanding one of them. This transfers the pilots to the other squadron.

ad1: Well, he doesn't want me to use this...
He always also get's annoyed when I make some successful moves, but that always shows me, I'm doing right [:D]
ad2: But that takes 30 days untill they reappear, no?
Is there a possibility to manipulate the combat results of a turn? It was now two times that I expected heavy losses on his side and then it always took him very long to send me the result - with nothing happend...
In Both times, my planes don't attack...

When I disband a squadron a pop-up appears asking if I want it to reform in 90 days.

You can always create fragments by transferring air units away from their bases that have damaged a/c. The fragments left behind contain the damaged a/c and all of that unit's excess pilots. These fragments can be disbanded into other air units, and do not re-form. The parent unit stays on the map.

Sounds like you don't really trust you opponent...not a good thing.ORIGINAL: Historiker
BTW, he can't manipulate the replays.

He often sends the turn back within an hour. The first time, we were playing at a saturday at around 1 turn every hour. When I expected my CVs to intercept some CVEs of him, it took him around 3 hours to answer. After that one, it went on with 1 per hour...you don't really trust you opponent...not a good thing.
BTW, he can't manipulate the replays.
When you expect to sink some CVs and your planes don't even start, you get a little bit astonished...

RE: Refuleing and more pilots than needed?
The 2nd way to refuel a TF is to have another TF in the hex. Doesnt HAVE to be a replentishment TF. I use AKs myself. Your ships will draw fuel from them just like any other refueling at sea.
As for overloading pilots in a squadron, you dont have to disband to do it. Fragments work just fine. I routinely have 9 to 12 pilots more than my squadron max is.

Quite right one #1; it's not right really, but it works gamewise. One thing that should be "modified".ORIGINAL: Yamato hugger

As to #2, just 12? I have fighter and bomb groups that have 100 pilots assigned; really cuts down on the fatigue problem....."oh, we just flew 12 hexes and got 24 fatigue on that mission....?...no, not really, as the other crews take over and fly the next day...." now, it would be hell to be an armorer in that group, I would imagine......

..Oh! We fly o'er the treetops with inches to spare,
There's smoke in the cockpit and gray in my hair.
The tracers look fine as a strafin' we go.
But, brother, we're TOO God damn low...

Actually, I also take advantage of the hints given in these forums, but I will disapprove if you also uses these. [:@]
RE: Refuleing and more pilots than needed?
There's another way you can get more pilots than planes, whether deliberate or accidental.
Say you have a 27 plane daitai with 27 planes and 27 pilots at base A. Your opponent bombs the crap out of the airbase. You end up with 4 ready planes, two damaged planes and 26 pilots.
Fly the 4 ready planes to base B. There are now 4 planes, 4 pilots at B; and 2 planes, 22 pilots at A.
Now, fill out the Daitai. Click the add plane 21 times. Hmm. Now have more planes than pilots. Add 21 pilots. There are now 25 planes, 25 pilots at B.
When the squadron is all back together, you have 27 planes and 47 pilots!
Note if you have auto replacements on, you probably don't have to click anything. You'll frequently end up with extra pilots because the add pilot function doesn't consider the pilots in fragments.
