Naval Units and Blockade Questions?

Post by submariner0 »

I am playing my first campaign game (starting 1861). I have some questions about naval vessels and blockades.

1) Is it possible to separate individual ships from squadrons? If yes, how is this done?

2) I attempted to blockade Charleston. The tooltip says that 6 units would be required. I sent a squadron of 6 ships to the harbor exit. The tooltip says I now need 5 units to blockade. Are the units individual ships, which makes sense, or stacks, which does not make sense? Some stacks only have 2 ships (or in some cases 1 ship). How can a stack of 2 be equivalent to stack of 6 for blockading purposes?

3) When cycling between units (E & R shortcut), why are naval units not included? I use this feature every turn to find all active and movable units and it would be helpful to have naval units included.

Any help to understand these aspects of the game would be appreciated.

1) No

2) It is 6 of the unit counters that are required.  Which means the best unit for such close up blockade work are Brigs, which are cheapest to produce.

3) T/Y cycles naval units.
