Reload Vs. Reload & Barrage?

Post by tgb »

After my first resolution phase, I usual have this option for artillery that has fired. I always choose reload & barrage. Is there a benefit to just choosing reload?

Dunno...

Personally, I just load'em up when I need'em and fire during the planning phase.

To do that, you must first load the gun, then cycle through a unit or two, return to the gun (should now have a "L") and barrage away.

I was wondering about this and thought perhaps that artillery might fire defensively just before an assault which would make sense to me but I've never tried it and haven't been willing to sit around waiting to find out.

Besides this I can't see the point of pre loading arty.

Also does anyone know the exact effects of damaged arty? It has a D after the strengh if it needs repairs. I haven't been able to judge much difference but there must be some.
