CAW ad. 2007 has to be better

Post by radarro »

Hi

J decided to buy a new CAW.

Here are some things wchich J asked 5 monts a go and, J ask SSG/MAtrix to change,

Searching mode.
a) Number of planes/search sectors. From almost every historic book, it is known that Imperial Japanese Navy/USNavy uses many 10, sometimes more than 20 planes from ever TG/LB, to search 180' sector. In CCAW and now ther are only 8 for 360'. Please change it
b) Automatic serach system. IJN/USN launched search planes two times per day, in the morning, in the afternoon. Please change it
c) In CAW plan can spot TF from 3 hexes/ 60mm ??!!!. In CCAW J could reduce it to 40,20mm. Real should be 20mm for carrier plane, 40mm for land plane. Please change this settings

Technical Data

Planes Strike Range
F4F,TBD,A5 -180mm
SBD,D3,B5,- 220mm
A6 - 260mm

Velocity
TBD - 100m/h
SBD- 120 m/h
F4F - 140M/H
IJN planes - 140m/h

Search range

Carrier planes
USN - 240mm
IJN - 240mm

CV magazine limits

IJN

CV 24-36 torpedoes
CVL
till VI1942 no torpedoes onboard, Ryujo,Junyo couldn't launch Kates with torpedos, until 1944 when IJN started using rockets to launch.

Number of planes in the 1942 battles - please read J.Lundstroms "First team" vol 1. ad 2. [no reinforcements on Coral Sea,Midway]

Next problem: Launching procedure

Strike - Arming and fueling last only 15 minutes, and planes are ready to take off. It should be 30-40 minutes, for IJN Kates with torpedoes even more.

USN planes were placed on the deck and then armed and fueled. Then all [40-50] were starting.

IJN were planes were armed and fueled in the hangars, and then shifted on the deck. Then all [max: CVL 18 planes, CV 30, CVB 40] were starting.

Please explain, why armed planes start at once ?!!!!, and deck is always empty !???

Hi Radarro,

Is the behaviour repeatable? Can you send me through a save game where this happens?

Pretty sure I've fixed all the bugs that have been reported so far in terms of the arm/fuel deck cycle so if you send me the save i can confirm it no longer occurs.

1. Sending aicraft for a strike we should arm all the planes [IJNavy in the hangars, USNavy on the deck [for 30 planes it takes about 30-40 min.]], then all plane must be parked on the flight deck [15 min], and then launching procedure starts [about 15-20 min].

In CAW arming takes only 15 min., and planes take off one by one.

2. Search doctrine: Real setting should be only 2 times per day, but using not 8 but 16 or more planes for 360 circle..
Plane should see TF from 20mm [carrier] and 40mm [land]

I'm begging You, change this settings in the next patch, and it will be the best game

The support guy was asking for a saved game to document the problem so he knows where to look for it in the code not for a repeat of the complaint. [:-] if Alex is like most programmers he would like to see **examples** of what "mistakes" you are seeing so he knows what it is doing in your case. As opposed to what his testing showed. Programmers can't fix what they haven't seen. [&:] As players we all hope it's an easy fix ............. [X(]

As a CAW fan J would like to show changes in editor which make every scenario close to real.

1.Search doctrine
Only 2 times per day [morning, afternoon]
Every TF has search capabilities. J add SOC squadron to every allied "cruiser" TF. J split TFs witf more than one CV, multipling search bases. In MIDWAY scenario, J created MidwayII and MIDWAY III, to send not 5 but 15 planes to search western sectors
Search range CV: IJN/USN = 240 mm, LBased IJN/USN = 600 mm

2. Carrier Planes Velocity/Range

F4,F2,A5 = 120/180
SBD2/3 = 120/220
TBD = 100/180 !!!

A6/D3/B5 = 140/220

3. Spot
All CVs = 36, except Soryu/Hiryu 27
ALL CVL =18, except Ryujo 12

4. Number o planes on CVs

Literature

6. Scenarios by radarro

- 08XII1942 - day after PH, KButai in Hawaii waters
- Wake - many alternative scenarios
- 12IV1942- MO Operation 1 month earlier, Kaga, Shoho vs ?
- 03V1942 - Coral Sea battle - after modifications
- 08V1942 - Coral Sea afternoon, alone Zuikaku vs Fletcher ... and late Halsey [not 1 but 2 CVs]
- 03VI1942 - Midway - historic but US doesn't know where from Nagumo comes
- 04VI1942 - Midway - historic battle, IJN have to strike Midway FIRST
- 04VI1942 - Midway - afternoon, alone Yamaguchi vs Fletcher, Spruance
