nation screen

Post by randell765 »

I have a few questions on the nations screen.

1)What is the difference between buying trench and putting points into R&D to buy points for trench?

2)There are points at the bottom of the screen next to industrial, should I use up all those points? Or use them sparingly, do I get more after each impulse?

Thank you for any help

Buying a trench simply uses available trench points to build trenches within a given hex. Investing into trench R&D allows you to increase the level and quality of the type of trenches you may build in the future (definitely a sound strategy).

These are your current number of economy points able to be spent, and they decrease as you make purchases. The points are refreshed at the start of a new turn, not impulse. Personally I'm pretty cautious with how I spend these, at least until my economy is healthy and I know I'll have a steady influx of incoming industrial points.

So lets say you have 4 impulses in 1 turn, if you didn't spend all your points at once you could spend your points each impulse within that turn?

No. You have access to the economics only during the "strategic phase". When you proceed to the activation phase/movement phase, you are done with economics until the start of the next turn.

Hi randell765,

You may want to save finished goods (industrial points - IP's) up from turn to turn, in order to buy an HQ refit.

For example, Austria-Hungary starts out at only 3 IP's; I will usually spend one on naval, one on arms, and save one for a future HQ refit (offensive point), to replenish after the Serbian campaign.

Similary, the Ottomons start with nothing in inventory or on the way; it is critical to save IP's from turn to turn to react to future events.

Austria spending 1 on naval in T1 is a great boon for the TE!![8D]

sure yuo get to dispute some sea lanes for a while, but why would you want to?  Your fleet is completely outmatched by the TE, and you're better off, IMO, keeping it in port with your small initial naval resources intact making teh TE spend points to sorties jsut in case you do some time....
