Market Garden by SSG ?

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Market Garden by SSG ?

Post by Richard III »

It`s always been my dream that someone would produce SSI`s old " Highway To The Reich " Board Game, including the US Airborne assaults, as a computer game that is as comprehensive and detailed as the paper & cardboard version.

Since MG seems to be the main scenario here, I wonder if this is it ?

Trying to find detailed Game infomation such as scale, ( both hex & unit ) number of units on the map, how many turns in the full scenario ( if there is one ) , how the airborne landing are represented, how something that huge ( if this is ) is presented on the Map, as well as a host of other important Game Play questions seems to be elusive, to say the least, in both Matrix and SSG product blurbs these days.

So... any opinions, both specific and general, from those who actually have played the Game would be appreciated, even more so if you know the board game....[;)]

I have played various games over the years to represent bits and pieces of Market Garden.

I believe this is the best representation of Market Garden in wargaming to date.

To begin with, 30 Corps breaks through easily. The Germans have the opportunity to blow bridges and this slows the advance.

101st Airborne can assist to stop this and also to stop a German counterattack from the left which could potentially block the highway.

The 82nd lands at Nijmegan and tries to fight through the city and the Germans attack the 82nd from the right.  It’s a tough fight here.

In the meantime the British Airborne are quickly surrounded but Frost’s battalion gets to the bridge.
