disbanding units

I've seen this available a couple of times when I select a unit but what is the effect of disbanding units? I didn't see it in manual.

When you disband a unit, the resources get returned back into your arms and manpower pool. For example, if you disband a corps unit with a strength of 22, 11 points will get returned to arms and 22 points get credited back to available manpower.

Interesting way to "recycle" lesser quality troops back into your class "A" corps.
