Air Recon

Post by JudgeDredd »

I'm a little confused.

I don't want to waste my air availability, whicch is why I am asking.

I have read the manual (but being is my memory is so bad, I could do with a second and maybe third pass).

I have 8 air available to Germany. I have assigned 1 to the Balkans, 2 to the East and 5 to the West. But during activation (when you are trying to work out your plan...haha...that's a laugh...me with a plan!), I click on an enemy unit in France and I get the message "Air Reconnaisaince 3"...but I thought I had 6 on the Western Front (the air report dialog prior to the activation phase (just after the strategic phase)) said so...so why only 3? Also, I ahve 2 assigned to the EF, and I cannot click on an enemy unit anywhere on the EF and get the recon message...why?

Like I said, my memory is bad and I do plan on reading the manual again...but I can't recall any limitations to air...I mean, if I have 2 air available in the EF, why can I not recon x 2? Or if I have 6 available in the WF, why am I only getting 3 recon?

Help appreciated...learning as I play. Thx

There is no guarantee that putting air points into a theater get you recon points - that is determined based on your strength, the enemy's strength and your respective aircraft technology levels.  After the strategic phase  of each turn concludes, there is an air results screen that shows how your airmen did, and how many recon points consequently are available for that turn in each theater.  As a rule of thumb, I've found that 5-6 air points usually lead to 2-3 air recon points... hope this helps.

In terms of UI improvements ... a way to recall this screen would be nice.  Right now its one of those look at it once then the info goes away things.  Seems like you should be able to go back and look at it later, especially in the Activation Phase.

Correct. Along the top row info panel, in the last box to the right, the number of air reece points (hexes) is displayed during the HQ activation phase.

Note this is done by country; you must select a unit of the appropriate power to see its number of available reece.
