Pwhex v7.93 Errata

Post by witpqs »

I found a couple of more rough spots around Australia, so I took a comprehensive look around Australia and Tasmania. Here's a bit of errata (none of it too terrible).

Hex 16,94 is Ld should be Cd

Hex 27,104 is Lc should be Cc

Hex 48,105 is Lc should be Cc

Hex 47,103 is Lc should be Cc

Hex 31,121 is Lc should be Cc

Hex 29,85 is Lw should be Cw. Plus, boundary with Hex 30,84 appears to have two different definitions.

Hex 38,119 is Lc should be Cc. Plus, boundary with Hex 39,120 appears to have to two different definitions.

Hex 45,115 is Lw should be Cw. Plus, boundary with Hex 46,116 appears to have to two different definitions.

I found a couple of more rough spots around Australia, so I took a comprehensive look around Australia and Tasmania. Here's a bit of errata (none of it too terrible).

Hex 16,94 is Ld should be Cd: Probably should be Coast Clear

Hex 27,104 is Lc should be Cc: I agree

Hex 48,105 is Lc should be Cc: I agree

Hex 47,103 is Lc should be Cc: I agree

Hex 31,121 is Lc should be Cc: Should be Coast Mountain or Forest (= rough)

Hex 29,85 is Lw should be Cw. Plus, boundary with Hex 30,84 appears to have two different definitions.
Not sure what you mean by W - but if it is swamp - I agree - NE hexside should be Water

Hex 38,119 is Lc should be Cc. Plus, boundary with Hex 39,120 appears to have to two different definitions.
Should be Coast Mountain and East hexside should be Both

Hex 45,115 is Lw should be Cw. Plus, boundary with Hex 46,116 appears to have to two different definitions.
Should be Coast Mountain, SW hexside should be Water, East hexside should be Both

When I said "should be ..." I just took to the erroneous land code ('L' something) and converted it to the presumed coast code ('C' something).
______

To clarify the notes I made about hex sides: In three cases I found hex sides that are two different colors. Let me explain. When you press the F6 key, most hex sides are overlain by a single line of one color, either white, green, red, blue, or dark blue. In a few cases I found that (with the F6 key on) a hex side was overlain with two thin lines - of different colors - side by side. In those cases it seems that in one of the adjoining hexes that hex side is defined one way, in the other adjoining hex it is defined another way.

You are correct - a hex side should never be two colors. Units passing one way will be treated differently from units passing the other way - so it is not correct to have mismatched hex sides. That said - there are many. I keep finding them dating all the way back to stock - or I did until a few months ago. We STILL have wrong hex sides in the high arctic - not mismatched - just green in the ice kind of thing. I don't think Andrew redid the high zone and I myself surely didn't - since you cannot get there it does not matter. But it surely isn't right.

I only looked around Australia, New Zealand, and Madagascar as those were the areas recently reworked for that Pwhex.dat version.
