Yeah..They had to change the name to be "PC"..

History itself will be re-written entirely if these PC socialists have their way.

Totally impossible. With that many kills the Hellcat pilot must have an exp rating in the 90s and thus is invincable to Zeros.

I would hope that this forum could be politically free zone. The name Confederate Air Force never bothered me. As for the PC Police, corporations do not want to offend anyone.
In this case it was FINA, a corporation, that did not want to offend anyone. I would not think of Fina as socialist. Fina was the CAFs main sponsor and were going to withdraw sponsorship. Has for changing history, I see whack jobs on both the right and left trying to do that.
But let me repeat, this forum would be much more pleasant without the political commentary. After all we do share a fun hobby[:)]

As I recall, carrier pilots were not assigned to specific carrier planes. So the plane could be an ace when the current pilot wasn't...

I don't think Wild Bill was carrier certified. "Certified" for sure but not carrier certified. [:D]

Being a Yankee I was never fond of the name Confederate Air Force -
1) The Confederates didnt have an Air Force. Let alone one flying WW2 aircraft - wrong time period...you want to name a reenactment group for the Confederacy, then I have no problem, but make it historically appropriate to the Civil War time period.
2) HEY YOU LOST THE WAR! WE YANKEES WON...LIFE SUCKS (I'm a Jet Fan please I know about losing -many more losing seasons then winning seasons)

con·fed·er·ate
Pronunciation: k&n-'fe-d(&-)r&t
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English confederat, from Late Latin confoederatus, past participle of confoederare to unite by a league, from Latin com- + foeder-, foedus compact
