Using Divisions,Brigades to split smaller units

Seeking opinions about using Brigades and Divisions to divide operationally Big Flak, Engineering and Artillery Units. Only thing i can think of is it will give a kind of Land speed penalty.

Due to slot limits and to the way code works, I prefer AKWarrior's suggestion of folding such units into other formations. Originally he felt we could put them into base forces. I also put them into divisions, HQ units, and other formations.
Aside from the problem of sheer numbers of units, dividing them causes problems for the AI. We really need to come to terms with the scale of the game - meaning 60 miles per hex and divisions as the normal unit. Smaller stuff is for sideshows and specialist situations. Another issue is the things which are not modeled: we have whole classes of engineers absent from the game as explicit units (e.g. railway engineers) just as we do not model air units dedicated to air rescue operations (although air rescue is abstractly present in a way undocumented before Mike Wood explained it on the Forum). The point is - we should not attempt to put in every engineer formation - but should think about how it works - and how it might (or might not) fit into this model.

There are only 200 slots for divided pieces, so this only allows about 60-70 units to be divided. I once had an Allied player divide all his units on turn one - and then I got stuck and could only divide a few, so depending on your overall goal, this idea might not make sense.

Okay thanks for that info. This was mainly for some German Arko(sometimes with >5 Bn), Flak Divisions and some Engineer Groups.
