New RHS "findings"

Post by m10bob »

Nice to see some historic improvements to American aircraft complement in RHSCVO. This is the first time I have noticed the carriers including planes which were being ferried when the war broke out.
(This prevents me from going on raiding forays till I do something with these planes, otherwise air ops is blocked.)

BTW, I am STILL vastly impressed by the "decoy" Brit BB in India!
Till RHS I never knew such a thing had existed!

You will find literally hundreds of "chrome" items of this sort - not only as separate units - but burried inside other units.
There are special devices too - for example I found in a Japanese artillery listing they fielded 40 cm rockets on Iwo Jima - and the unit was designated "First" so presumably it was unique - but we have both unit and weapon.

However, to clarify the aircraft squadrons on carriers at the start situation, note that you do NOT Have to remove these squadrons from the ships. The ships could (barely) accomodate them, and the units were carefully customized so they will not mess you up operationally. Even when/if they resize, they will always be OK (thanks to the latest rewrite of the resize code by Matrix). While I advise you NOT to let squadrons resize (they become ahistorical in most cases), you may have it happen (and it does not matter if the planes are on a carrier or not - the units will resize if the unit BEGAN on a carrier). We long ago gave you "extra" squadrons crafted so they will "resize" to the same size. Now we have been able to move them ashore - in spite of being carrier qualified - so you will always have "building blocks" of carrier air units you can put on large carriers if you don't like the current unit size mix. Watch the notes in the upper left corner of an air unit display to know if it is carrier qualified or not - even if it is a "land" air unit!

Did you notice the "Tank Raiding Unit"? This is the only airborne armored unit in the game - and one of the few such units in the entire world. It was about to drop on a US B-29 base when hostilities ended.

What about the Kauryu (Dragon) Raiding Unit? This is a very strange sort of special forces: entirely made of Taiwanese natives. Not regular Chinese people from Formosa, these are aboriganies - people the IJA hunted as sort of ultra "advanced infantry training" - and because they were regarded as almost sub-human. This one tribe was so skilled - the Japanese offered to let them fight with guns! Fighting to the death was sort of the ultra-macho ultimate reason for being of these guys, so the Japanese could send them on a raid without concern about extraction. They were actually used - and effective. In common with the Tank Raiding Unit, and most Units, of IJA - it had two companies.

That is the sort of detail which would be lost on most of us "slobs". Maybe somewhat of a list of the "Easter eggs" would allow more public appreciation..
Been playing your RHSCVO a long time and have had to restart (as the human) maybe 100 times(?).
This is great.

BTW, I have not found George R. Tweed RM1(USN) on Guam yet?[8D]

Curiously enough, he is there! See device 2686 - the Guam Insular Force - mainly composed of sailors and militia - but with a core of US Marines! It is an RHS addition to the game, needless to say. This is a composite unit (in spite of being tiny) - it includes a small supply sink, a US naval support element, and a USMC security element.
