Thought I would share my leader pic mod for East Front, in case anyone else wants to use it. Changes German, Russian, and Italian pics for the dynamic campaigns. Don't forget to backup your originals in case you want to go back.
If you would write still the names of the gentlemen now, that would times be which new. I find one should not not any generals use, to before all your Soviet pictures possess all names and in honours fought (you have Schukow and Watutin for example thereby). Such an anonymity does not earn an officer of the Red Army and no comrade of our Wehrmacht.
I'm sorry, I don't follow. The pitfalls of Google's translator. Are you telling me that you'd rather I'd given the identities of those pictured, that you find it disrespectful? If so, I can dig that information up. Many I just assumed people would recognize, especially the Germans and Soviets. The Soviet woman pictured (3rd row, 4th pic) commanded a tank battalion, but her photo was unidentified otherwise. And I don't know the identities of those few Talonsoft originals I left in the Italian one, except for Messe.
Thank you for the photos. If I can't figure out how to use them, I may bother you again later for guidance.
I don't think you were being accused of being disrespectful to those soldiers pictured in the Italian army. You dodged that bullet.
If you had drawn mustaches and devil's horns on the pictures of the soldiers in the Wehrmacht and the Red Army, then maybe . . . .
The fact we are turning the conflict into a game for our amusement might be considered disrespectful.
Installation is a breeze (assuming you can navigate the dreaded RapidShare). Just unzip all of the files into your East Front directory. Default path is C:\Matrix Games\John Tiller's Campaign Series\East Front
I have no idea if these files have the same name in the WF folder. If so, you could use the Italians and Germans in that location as well. But better check first.
Thanks, jbunnelle. I appreciate your taking the time and trouble to share the photos.
What I don't understand, but which might be quite simple, because I haven't looked yet, is how it's set up in the game. Does the game randomly assign a photo and a name to a leader? If that's true, then I download and extract, and, from that point forward, it's out of my hands.
Or can you preset a name with a particular photo? Do I have to paste a photo to a leader file?
I know in the OOB editor, you can change the name of the leader, but I don't believe you can see the actual photo until you go to the map editor and place the leader on the map.
I was thinking of using the Italians in the West Front, so I'll have to investigate how this works.
I think Jason's walked me through this before (once or twice or three times):
Create folder in East Front. Download into that folder. Extract in that new folder. Verify won't be overwriting existing files in game. If would overwrite, save existing file in separate folder. Move new photos into game.
I'm thinking that when you select a leader in the OOB editor, the game randomly assigns a name and photo. Anybody know any differently?
It's probably right around this point that Job starts banging his head against a wall. Go to Rapidshare, hit the Free button, and then the next screen gives me only one option, which I believe is GlobalScreen, and I type in the 4 letters as directed, and from that point forward it's standard? There are no fees? There are fee options, all in Euros (about $1.25 per Euro?), but I can bypass the fee.
No fees on rapidshare but you are limited to download only certain amount of data per hour/day and you must wait several seconds after you pass captcha before download link is active
There really are no subdivisions within the individual game folders (i.e. EF, WF, etc). Like you say, I'd make a folder called "backups" and toss any files you're overwriting into that.
My only use for this is picking my own personal leader during the creation of a dynamic campaign. There are two separate sizes because one is for the larger selection screen interface, and the other is for in-game viewing in the Info box.
Thank you. I saw there were two sets of photos, but I didn't know why.
My recollection is the only time you get to pick the photo is in the DCG.
