Random scenario settings with more armor?

Post by Eberbach »

Is there any way to fine tune WHAT type of forces are in the random battle setups?

For example, alot of these randomly generated scenarios have alot of infantry. Is there any way to force a huge armor battle like one could do in Combat Mission?

Im wondering for the sole purpose of making random battles and NOT purchasing units.

Any Advice?

Yes
What you need to do is go into your preferences and turn "True Troop Rarity OFF" This allows the AI to purchase and you to purchase more of the rarer equipment. If you are playing German and fighting Soviets this allows the Soviets to purchase more tanks. Which were quite rare.

Now this will not give you complete tank battles but it will generally on the whole give you more tanks to fight. The AI trys to create a balanced fighting force, but due to "True Troop rarity On" can not purchase what it wants.

BE FORWARED THOUGH! This will allow the computer to buy what it wants! That means you will have to deal with air craft, engineers, really mean tanks(KV-1 & KV-2), Infiltrators and much naster artillary.

It is a much different game playing with "True Troop Rarity" On/Off. If you want to be historical play with it on. If you want to see a better range of units and learn how to deal with them, play with it off.

Just as a side note most on-line and PBEM games play with it on.

Have fun.

"I got two guns, one for each of ya"

Thanks for the hint, never knew that. I must have missed that somewhere.

So if the AI purchases german units with Troop Rarity off, then I too would get some odd things as well, like King Tigers and the like I take it?

Make sure the button is set at 'TRUE TROOP ON/RARITY OFF'. The button has four settings, and you have to watch. If you turn true troop off, your battles will be very unbalanced. True troop reduces the cost of unexperienced units, and increases the cost of more experienced units. It is an important balancing factor.

Another thing you can try is fighting a sigle battle, with you buying for both sides. Just switch to 'human buy', and buy the best you can for the computer side. Viola, instant tank battle.
