Questions (or Advice) - Forts

Given the extreme cost of a fort....

I had thought that building one in Kentucky as the USA was wise.

In a sence I was correct. It acted like a magnet, and the AI assembled the largest army ever seen
to go take it. Initial AI losses were 6k just in the first assault.

Fortunately I had control of the rivers and reinforced. But it was very close. All I lost was the Ky militia
built to garrison it (four brigades and two 10 pound Parrot batteries)

It seems to me that Forts would be very usefull, if you could afford them.
