RHS Level 5, SIX and 7.7594 scenarios uploaded

Post by el cid again »

This was done mainly to address some coastal hex issues in Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania - all redone for Level 7 - because it helps the pathfinding routine.

Some additional things were done to clean up communications codes or hex side definitions near the (mainly unused) northern map edge (in India, Russia and the Bering Sea). It makes things look better and be slightly more functional.

I also redefined some hex sides in Hawaii:

a) You can move land units between Niihau and Kauai. Not by trail (low capacity ferry) or road (high capacity ferry) - but at the cross country rate - which is bloody awful. This represents unscheduled boats readily available for the short distance transit. Note Niihau is defined as an atol.

b) Similarly you can move land units between Lanai, Maui and Molokai - again not at ferry rates - but at cross country rates.

c) Most hexes of Hawaii are redefined as mountains. This is because they ARE mountains! It should not be a picnic fighting over these hexes. The exception is noted above: Niihau is defined as an atol - because it is small and where people are is not like fighting over the steep mountains of other islands.

I suspect MOST of us use 6..........[8D]

Those who use 5 are on the right path, but I thought 7 was somewhat the reservation of those grognards who wore tin foil hats, (so the rest of us would know who they were)...

So did I - until I tried it. Give it a shot and I think you'll like it. Or maybe my hat will finally get delivered! [X(]

To start at the end, yes. Madagascar is "Axis allied" and there is only one Axis flag. The Allies must invade it to use it.
And it is defended by a peculiar division sized force - complete with micro air force and navy. These units - Vichy French - will fight. Only one Vichy unit is Allied - a French Foreign Legion "regiment" of battalion size up near Hanoi. Because it ended up on the Allied side. Most of the Vichy forces in Viet Nam are invisible - because they never did anything for either side until disarmed. Two ships go over to Japan, mainly on the right date. And there are Free French units in Noumea and Tahiti - even the most micro of all the micro air forces - a single flight of obsolete planes!

I am a real sailor. Sailors - particular naval sailors - work around the clock. It is alleged I never sleep and have a secret staff. The first theory is false, and the second one is that I have support from Cobra - the fastest artist on the planet - WITPQS - Mifune - always - and others from time to time. Further still others give us permission to use what they did.
Nothing like having many hands to do a lot of work. Add to that - if we get stuck - we get just in time technical support from Matrix and we get research support from the Forum. Matrix sometimes answers in minutes, always in hours. This makes us look like we are more clever than we really are.

Level 6 done to the same standard as 7 and uploaded. This is less of a change - the Australian/Tasman/NZ coast are not the same here - nor is the tip of Siberia. But we got Hawaii, a trail in India, fixed Lake Baikal, extended a secondary rail line at Yatuksk and got rid of a naval hex side in Tibet.

Level 5 pwhex set done to the same standard is uploaded.

But I found some missing trails in NEI and mountains on New Guinea - so I will now recheck that Level 6 is indeed up to standard.

OK - the trails on NE New Guinea, on Amboina, and on the SE end of the island chain (Maumere to Labao)
have been added. These will help local micro economies and help campaigns flow in the right directions on land.

Mountains (of no real use) also were added to New Guinea.

These bring Level 6 to the real current standard - and are final for Level 6. They should simply overwrite the previous set.

These file sets are done to a common standard and feature addressing all identified eratta (not many but some).
RHSEOS was split into RHSEOS (for human play) and RHSAIO (for human vs AI play). These two also underwent some enhancement of the way things are coded/located.

A problem in all scenarios of Task Force 2 being unable to replenish has been identified and resolved.

IF there are no ship art pointer issues - this will become 7.760 and be frozen for some time.

Level 6 is done and will upload in due course. I don't think there will be a later update for Level 6 than this one unless ship art pointers require it - because we want all scenarios to use the same art pointers. The only reason there is a question is that there are two independent reviews of ship art going on - and there is so much of it the possibility exists a pointer issue will be identified. While problems with the art itself do not require changes of the data files, if two different things point at one image - one of them needs to point somewhere else.

Level six scenarios now uploading.

This might be the final form for Level 6. If not - there will only be one more release. It probably turns on wether or not we need to change any ship art pointers?

While originally I didn't plan a AIO scenario for Level 6 - there were enough users I decided to do it - so that was uploaded as well.
