Otherwise we may now wait a day longer :D :D .

On the other hand, UV deals with SWPacific and not with the Phillipines, so we may have luck and there will be no dealy due to this sentence... :D :D

Kind regards,
Roland

It would be nice if it would go gold so my teeth would stop grinding day in day out.

I will tell you my euro-trash friend. I work with kids at a kindergarden. Anyone with this kind of experience knows what those little SOBs can do to your social life. You basically fall asleep about 2-3 hours after work:( . Weekends at about 10pm:eek:

I thank you for that kind remark. I will be a teacher within a year so I will not work with the younger kids much longer ( just a part of my education ).

Soon I can tell my students about Nimitz, Rommel or perhaps Zhukov or Patton:D

I guess they will fall asleep:)

I have to ask however, what exactly is going on in this screenshot

http://www.warfarehq.com/Reviews/UV/ground_combat.jpg

i like the air combat screen. but what is showing on the land combat screen?

also does the little images of the units change according to what units are fighitng? for example are different planes shown accordingly or is it just the same image all the time.

The land combat is not as exciting as the air and naval combat is. It is something we asked them to improve on for WITP. The pictures do not change you get kind of a running commentary on who is attacking, retreating etc..

The ground combat screen I must admit was the weakest. theer are no units to represent units in battle (counters would at leat be a good update <VBG>)

However, the air combat screens do have actually graphic representations of each aircraft type in the battle, as does the naval screens. Things get more exciting on the screens other than ground combat as you will watch to see if you lose the Lexington to Val dive bombers or did your squadron of P 38's finish off the Betty's coming in to finsih off Port Moresby.

I guess for me the most exciting things I experienced were: the game environment-graphics and sound were awesome...they added to the atmosphere of the game, and the game historical detail. Looks like it's very well done. Unfortunately, in a preview it's not fair(your really looking at beta software), nor do you have the time to look this over in any depth. I promise that will happen in the review! :)

Oh, and if this wasn't enough for all you droolers out there......if things go well (read: Joss gets some sleep tonight <BG>) you may be treated to streaming video of some game action this week at WarfareHQ! :D

Stay tuned.

hmm streaming video...mmmmmmm

So the movement in the game is hex to hex right, its not real time or anything odd like that?

Real Time is ok, but I prefer the old grognard way.

Also how far in does the map zoom?

I have bad eyes lol

Yes it is, as I found out today "continuous movement" you plot all your moves...then click go and the phases start running. It is NOT a real time game, and is more like the best classic boardgames some of us grew to know and love.

Nice new game engine btw. One that I'd love to see reworked a bit and used in Eastern front <VBG>.....

I guess the best way to answer this question is to show you :D

The right hand side is a zoom of the left.....

Each Hex is 30 miles. You can only move along paths that you can trace supplies through. In the jungle this is normally roads, paths, and trails. The better the road the faster you travel. Example I give an Inf unit marching orders along a jungle path. Next turn it looks as if nothing happened. I check the unit and see that is has traveled 2 miles. At this rate it will take 15 days to leave the current hex and enter the next. It can be frustrating but it is realistic and it does add some excitement. For example, when I was marching on Lae, I held my breath for a few turns hoping my men would make it before the Japs could reinforce. Which they did by the way.

Hello U2,

I just want to remark that my father was a teacher, my grandfather was a teacher, my aunt was a teacher, my greatgrand.....
So, I know why I did not become a teacher (thereby breaking an old fmily tradition) and why you have a very difficult job.
If I just imagine that I would arrive at my workplace and 30 children are looking at me... (horrible).
And, in fact, they won't do this...
You will have to catch their attention...
I honestly hope that you are someone who has the gift to be able to work with children.
I, for myself, join with Jean-Luc Picard (remember what he told Riker in the starting episode about children ;) ?).

Kind regards,
Roland

(To prevent any misunderstandings: I don't hate children.)
