Help with the game.

The game loaded fine. I played three basic games from start to finish, no problems.

Tried a detailed battle at beginning of fourth game and it said 'could not initialize???or something' and went to the opening screen.

I decided it was a memory problem and loaded the May 30th patch, and now game does not want to load..talked to my daughter on phone and she said Maybe I loaded it in the wrong area..

question...where should it go? will someone walk me through it?

Malcom, it is hard to tell what went wrong.

Look at the components of the patch you downloaded. Look at the dates on the files and try to check if the dates on those same files in your Forge of Freedom folder match.

When I first bought this game, it installed itself into a FOF folder within another, empty FOF folder. The first time I tried to patch, the patch went into that outer folder and did nothing for me.

yes, when you start the game, you should see what version you have in the top right corner. This will tell you what version your running. Also, try runing disk defragment to see if that helps. You might also see if any programs are running in the background such as an anti virus. Cheers.

Thank you for the help and suggestions. I guess it was the anti-virus lurking ...I ended that and the game loaded and played as usual.
