TOAW and Vista

Post by George Patton »

There is any problem to install and run Toaw III on Windows Vista?
The answer could be yes, because I got the message with OS required by TOAW III and the info that my laptop don't have the minimum system requirements.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with your question.

But I can say that a possible solution would be for Ralph to h@ck into Micro$oft and change Vista so that it required TOAWIII to run properly ;)

Exactly what message are you getting? Please post a screenshot, or exactly transcribe the error message. Thanks.

I'm considering buying TOAW and, also, am running Vista. Is there any question of compatibility?

I'm running Vista and didn't have any problems at all with running TOAW III.

Just watch when you install. One of the first things I did was turn off the security features and rely on my Norton. The security features make Vista a pain in the ass. If I recall if you leave them on you have to be sure to install as the admin or it won't let you patch anything.

I'm running Vista, and I'm having no problem playing the games on it.  In fact, the replacements and stuff is only taking seconds instead of at least a minute.

I had a blue screen of death a while ago (new computer, so it's a different subject), and now when I want to run TOAW I get a message that says "TOAW requires at least 16 bit color.  You can adjust yout display color depth with the Windows Display Properties log."  Okay, I can't find the Display Properties Dialog on this computer....and I'm not sure what happened, either.

Any help?

I don't know how it works in Vista, but in XP you can simply right click your mouse in any open space of your desktop and choose "Properties" from the popup menu. Then you should be in the display properties dialogue.

Tried that (works the same in Vista), but it didn't work. I finally got it going okay after righ-clicking on the AOW icon, clicking properties, clicking compatibility, and then un-checking the "256 color" block. Anyone could've seen that one....except me. [&:]

Thanks for the help, though.
