Fall Grun 1938

Post by endfire79 »

I'm playing as the Czechoslovaks in Fall Grun 1938 scenario from TOAWIII and will try posting my AAR here.

I'm wondering if anyone else has any ideas what may have happened if this country had resisted against the Germans (I haven't got that far in the scenario yet).

How would the major Allies (i.e. France, Great Britain) and the Soviet Union have reacted if resistance was successfull enough?

How would neighbouring countries have reacted? (i.e. Poland, Hungary).

This is my first time trying an AAR. I figure it might take some time between each report, so feel free to comment on your version of the alternate history for the moment.

So far the Germans are managing to eliminate quite a few border forts, but some units and forts have held out.

German units breaking through at Znojmo, Ceske Budejovice, Glatz.

At the NorthEast sector, the left flank of my line is now under threat.

I believe I'll have to start withdrawing back to the interior...

I have not used my own armoured units yet.

German 92 Inf Reg (mot)/ 2 Inf Div (mot) has been surrounded and eliminated around Svitavy by elements of the Czech 14th and 23rd Inf Div's after it rushed pass the frontier w/o any supporting units.

German interdiction is very active....

Turn 2:

Does anyone know if there is any way to get a copy of the 'Recent News' besides typing it out by hand?

I don't know exactly what you mean by 'get a copy'. If you have 'SitRep Log' turned on in the advanced game options, you can view that file ??

Turn3:
September 15th, 1938
Tension mounts on Czech border...
September 18th, 1938
Sudeten Germans report atrocities...
German troops cross the border! War in Europe has begun!
Cheb has been reduced to ruins.
 German capture Cheb.
September 22nd, 1938
France and Great Britain declare war on Germany!
Sudeten Germans rebel!
German 16th Inf Div released!
German 22nd Inf Div released!
Sudeten German rebellion continues!

An attempt is made to force back the Germans at Bratislava, but fails.  A German Leiche Inf HQ and Eng unit are surrounded and wiped out in the mountains NW of Znojmo.  Too bad they weren't Panzer units.
Attempts are made to stiffen the line at the borders but the Germans have now broken through at most parts.  However, some passages are held.
The Germans land paratroopers around Bratislava!  Many of my units are now 'reorganizing' ( I wonder if this is shock due to Blitzkrieg).
September 25th, 1938
German capture Ceske Budejovice.
Liberec has been reduced to ruins.
 German capture Liberec.
Overall fronts
Southwest front
Southeast front
Northwest Front
Northeast front
Closer look
Sudentenland
The traitors came out of the woodwork and took a beating.
Liberec
German 3rd Pz Div breaking through, but I've got some reserves...
Ceske Budejovice & Znojmo
German 1st Gebirgs Div &  9th Inf take Ceske Budejovice, 2nd Gebirgs & 4th Leich Inf takes Znojmo.   However, my 12th and 7th Inf div's have annihilated 4th Leich Inf's HQ and Eng units (notice gap in the mountains between Znojmo and Ceske Budejovice).  My units are all reorganizing...
Bratislava
9th & 6th Inf made a stand against the German 44th, 45th Inf and 29th Mot Inf div's and decided to counterattack.  The German's took losses, but held.  They decided to land 7th Fleiger behind my back...
West of Praha
My border units held as long as they could, but now it's time to withdraw to the 2nd line of entrenchments manned by 27th & 24th Inf div's.  Hope 1st Inf can make it in time...  My mobile reserve is waiting in Praha, wondering if it's time to let it loose.
Western border
Hey, how about that - it's holding [:)].  Good job 4th Inf.  Waitasec.. what is that German HQ doing behind me???
Ostrava
German 3rd Leich Inf, 22nd & 3rd Inf units are breaking through, luckily most units are plugging the gap (except for one stray German regiment).
If I lose Ostrava & Bratislava, supplies & replacements will drop... I'm hoping that if I can eliminate enough German units, the Allies and the Soviets will decide to send me some aid...

Very well laid out post.
To repeat history in a game is to be predictable.
