Has the A.I. been tweaked ?

...because I'm getting my bottom handed to me by the Japanese in the Kohima scenario! I've also noticed it in the Berlin Citadel scenario where I've all but lost the Soviet Moltke Bridge-head. Either the A.I. is better, or I'm slowing up in my old age! [&:]

The AI hasn't been tweaked, but opfire and concealment have both been modified, which - in theory - should give the AI some play benefits.

Thanks a lot, Jason. That Berlin Citadel scenario is one I played a long time ago in the original Talonsoft EF2, and I never had the difficulties I seem to be encountering this time round. I can't see that enhanced opportunity fire or concealment is much of a factor in the way events are unfolding at the Moltke Bridge, so maybe its my imagination. The A.I. just seems to be acting in a more logical manner than I can remember from before.

Obviously, I'm not complaining! [;)]

Maybe it has just taken 10 years to "get smart"? *laughs*

That is a good thing, of course!

I'm in the process of playing my first e-mail game, and my impression is the opportunity fire works differently than when playing the AI.  Is that just my imagination?  It seems opportunity fire is nearly automatic for the set range against the AI, but in e-mail, the odds are much lower.

When designing a scenario, under the "Header" category, at the bottom there is a list of options, which my guess is designed to be assigned to the AI to help it cope with the demands of the scenario.  For example, there's "Armored Breakthrough/Spearhead" (when you want the AI to be on the offensive?), "Meeting Engagement" (you don't want the AI to be either offensive or defensive oriented?), "Static Defense" (you want the AI to emphasize defense?), and "Mountain Pass" (no clue) among others.  Does anybody know how the various ones work so the selection could be something more than guesswork?

I asked that 10 years ago and am still waiting for a reply! Needless to say, I have no idea if the AI follows a different routine for each of the settings.

A "Stump the Band" winner!  And it took me only 139 posts to get there.

Given the fact the AI is usually assigned the defensive role (and is terrible when assigned an offensive role), I was thinking perhaps the Opportunity Fire for the AI was tweaked to accomodate it in that role.  I also thought perhaps the setting in the Scenario editor might change the percentages.  Another mystery to add to the search for the Holy Grail, the Loch Ness monster, and Bigfoot.

I was glad to hear the AI Opportunity Fire was improved.

Running with the Holy Grail theme, I was thinking maybe we could call in Tom Hanks (of "The Da Vinci Code" fame).  Sorry, Jason, but it may be time to pull in the big guns.  Then I thought it might be better to pass on Tom Hanks and go with his assistant, Audrey Tautou.  She may not find the answer, but something tells me we'd all be endlessly entertained while she tried.

Yes.  That Audrey!  Now that we've found someone to help Jason, we've another problem.  What's Jason gonna tell his missus when Audrey shows up in the evening?  I don't think the missus will buy Audrey has great typing skills.  Similarly, I don't think she'll buy Audrey is there to help Jason with his budding acting career.  Audrey is reknowned for great neck messages, but I don't think that's the way to go either.

Oops. Neck massage.  A neck message is something entirely different.

I vaguely recall that it didn't do anything, it was for the text and so hope of future functionality.
