Hi,
I think that the "Combined Fleet is located..." message reffers to HQ and not the ships.. Just a thought..

I think you are correct. Noticed in my IJN CHS PBEM that there is an Combined fleet HQ unit there.

Thank you for pointing this out. [:)]

As things stand and IF the Okinawa operations go as planned we might see an invasion of Home Islands in the Autumn of 1945. Not guaranteed though.

Nothing special last turn. I guess the biggest news is that we will clash again after this game is over. Me as Japan and Dave as allies. (He gets a chance to payback all these developments)

We will be using stock game with Andrews Map mod. Naturally multiday turns this time around with 2 day cycles. Other houserules we will discuss later.

Well back to the current game. I continue to bomb resources at Home Islands... Try to advance in Burma... and now prepare for the oncoming invasions at Okinawa. After that... I don't know! Home Islands and Korea seem only viable options allthough I would like to have Russia active if I enter Korea.

Hi Jari

Catching up here in lieu of Pauk and PzB being on holiday (should not be allowed) [;)].

Crikey a lots been going on since i last read it (page back or so). How are you finding the high alt Kamis ? . Joe and I are just hitting that territory, with max 4 carriers per hex would 'normal' attacks get through or is uber CAP still an issue ?

~I think Mandalay must be the bloodiest hex on the map for several AAR's , your doing an andy there arent you [;)]

could you post a piccie of the whole pacific as it'll be interesting to see what japan has left, noumea came as a suprise to me.
So did the strength of the defences.

good luck as ever
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

Hi Rob!

Everything is ok in Britain I assume? [:)]

Since we do not have maxium CV houserule per hex I won't mind having the high altitude Kamikazes in the game. These guys have hit quite a few carriers and even sunk some. Dave seems to have "endless" pool of pilots and Zeke's available even though I have bombed the HI to dust.... but to answer your question the high altitude Kamikazes are an menace and IF you have CV per hex houserule I would assume that they are deadly. (Much more than what they ought to be)

[:D][:D] ...Yeah, I'am doing definately Andy at Mandalay. I don't even know how many soldiers have become casualties there.

Here is the piccie you requested...

Everythings fine over here thanks Jari, How you cope with 2 small kids and 3 AAR's is beyond me [;)]

Thanks for the piccie .. and OMG ! thats 1945.. wow .. really differant game you have there Dave must be a great player to hold on to all that. Hats off to you for getting to 1945 without losing the west coast or india [:D]

Could you do a multi division (pref the tank divs) drive to isolate mandalay? worked for me vs Joe, if you do go to the west of mandalay and then drive SE , might at least force some men from mandalay. and as your not planning on amphibs in SEAC I assume you have tons of men available.

anyhoo just a suggestion

How is it now you have to go back to work? hope the boss isn't as prattish as before

Good luck ..

Hi Rob,

Yeah. Dave pretty much declined every attempt.. unfortunately for him CenPac was his achilles heel... to be honest I think he have actually won this one since he repulsed me everywhere.

I doubt the encirclement would work at Mandalay. Dave has some 24-30 units near Rangoon so he could easily wipe out any such an attempt! [:(] ...that is an sad truth to be seen.

Actually I don't have tons of men available. Most of them are fighting in Burma. I cannot abandon India since he has sizeable forces with transports which could sail right in! So, at the moment amphibitious operations are on hold for time being in SEAC.

Dave will be out of town from Tuesday - Thursday so maybe 1 more turn before he leaves.

As for RL. It is hectic at best! [:D] ...those 2 daughters ain't exactly calm... I think the older one could be portrayed in an Duracell battery commercial... " going... going... still going!"

As for work.. well plenty of to do it! [:(] ...I guess it never really slow down in IT world.. unfortunately. The boss is somewhat ok I guess he has come to grip with reality of things. Allthough he was full of energy today! [8|]

[:D] ..I try to run some Witp before I goto work in the morning. At least the combat replays and maybe even do a turn. (That saves some time) ...and after work when ever I get a chance try to finish my turns and find sometime to update the AAR's. I would love to do more indepth AAR's with a lot of extra stuff but... well I'am out of time! [:(]

Usual day at the office for the moment. I wonder what kind of production capabilites Dave has left to himself!

Burma

I'am starting to withdraw out of Mandalay. That slaughter fest is not going anywhere. Dave has some 100 000 men at Mandalay + my intel shows 30 enemy units at Rangoon too. So, he seems to have sunstantial reserves brought into area.

CVL Hermes did receive nasty hit. Sys damage, flooding and fires are +40. The ship is heading towards Iwo Jima now as do the rest of the fleet.

Future plans:

Actually there really is not many floating around. Now that Kadina is secured I think Japan is completely isolated.

RN carrier force at India is quite substantial size now. The question what do with them???

Also now that I'am withdrawing out of Mandalay. It is a large army with some 200 000 men!!!

Soviet Union??? When do the troops "double" their strenght?? I might consider joint operation with US + USSR once it becomes active.

Basically nothing is confirmed for now. Dave has a lot of troops laying around and way too many transport vessels left.

Game date is 2nd of June 1945

Ok. The game is somewhat of an stalemate currently. I'am having troubles in decieding what to do..

a) My transport fleet is growing thin. The battles in earlier times are costly.
b) My flanks in the CenPac region are NOT secured. This means that I need to cover my bases as I do advance with sizeable garrisons.
c) Dave still have substantial CV assets somewhere in hiding.
d) China is out of the war. Neither side has the strenght to battle it out.
e) Dave is an excellent player! [&o]
f) I have burned a lot supplies in the battles earlier. This was an suprise how much fuel and supplies you do need!!! Also this has taken out a lot of transport ships too.

Here brief summary on what is ongoing.

Currently I have withdrawn my ground troops out of Mandalay to Myithkina. I will propably start another offensive in Burma very soon though once my troops have rested a bit. RAF continues to bomb Rangoon and Mandalay daily.

In CenPac I'am moving fuel and supplies ahead. Almost have piled up them quite nicely. Kadina is now also completely secured.

Allied bombers have visited Singapore too. This was a first visit since the lost of Singapore.

Well, IJN did not have CV's parked at Singapore that is now confirmed. Not too many places to hide them though so they are propably at Java or near Truk. Everywhere else is not safe.

US/RN carrier fleet is ready for action in CenPac.

RN Carriers are ready for action soon too.

I'am eagerly awaiting for the Russians to start rolling into Manchuko.

Daily resource bombing runs are made in Japan. Bulk of his industry is destroyed. I have also kept occasionally bombing resources at China, Manchuko and Thailand.

I have given some thought about future operations last night.

The options were as follows:

a) Formosa
b) Korea
c) China
d) Luzon
e) Operation Olympic

Well.. the conclusion I came was that a through d wohn't serve any purpose. Allthough the landing at Korea would put more pressure on Manchuko area.

BUT.. than again I hope Russians will survive by themselves. So, it is going to be Operation Olympic!!! I did already start preparing for this massive operation. It will involve a lot of troops and such it will take sometime to get things organized. Also my CV fleet will be in action as well as US BB TF's which have now left Pearl Harbour.

Basically you are going to see invasion of the home islands!!!

Also British troops will soon start moving againts Mandalay once more now better rested and prepped.

This ought to get ugly soon enough.
