Post by pkpowers »

I'm still getting this when saving pbem turns, is there a work around I'm missing ; I can go back change "pbem name" files' name, but it's a small pain...anyway I love this game, have 3 pbem's going at once!

Hi pk, not sure from your description what you mean.  Do you mean the game isn't recognizing your PBEM password?

I'm PK's opponent in one of the PBEM games it's a case of the save game always calls itself name game then we rename it to what we had origanally called it. This happens to us both but it may be something we did wrong when we started the game up. It was also happening before the Beta

Frank...

I'm playing PK as well and having a problem as the TE.

He sends me a file name PKPVSLAVA to start the game. I start up the game, do my thing and then when I go to send him the files, it appears that my move is not being overwritten on the PKPVSLAVA.SGW.

Something strange here I think.

That does sound strange, the name of the game is supposed to be set during the initial setup screen of the very first time you run the game and select PBEM.

This is odd. I'm playing a PBEM and am NOT having this issue.

Okay...

As far as I can figure out...

The first time you play, you have to save a game and that generates a file in the saved games folder called "PBEM Name."

I THINK that after you create that file, then the game overwrites your move onto it.

It appears some folks take that save and rename it for their game and then it works.

Hopefully, will know a bit more tomorrow, but if anybody else is having problems and can help me out here it sure would be appreciated.

If the file is being renamed after the initial start screen when the game is initialized the game won't know about the change

Okay..

I think I have figured it out.

Normally games against the AI save to my Misc.Documents folder.

So... when I received the PBEM move I put it there. Which I think is wrong.

I copied it over to the saved games folder of GOA and it appears it works now, at least against myself.

Will get back to you tomorrow and confirm.

I have 3 pbem games going ; in the game with volcano man I'm TE and all has been normal. But the 2 I've started as
CP against Typhoon and Lava have had the above stated problem. When playing my intial turn I end it as normal and it asks to send "pbem name" file to player; That happens right from the start, I'm given no chance to name it at all, hope I'm not missing anything simple.
