Hi all,

A disappointing day. I was hoping for the mother of battles off the Indian Coast. Instead bad weather socked in 3 of my 4 LBA bases and KB was just out of range. The only ridiculous, stupid, poorly co-ordinated AI-orientated strike was by 37 x Zero and 12 Sally. They met 73 x Wildcat and 15 x Fulmar on CAP. I lost 29 Zeroes for 20 Wildcats[8|]

We hope for better luck tomorrow.

Forces at Bombay still holding up strong and in supply.

I'm going to attack at Dimapur again tomorrow.

Hi all,

God darn it! Awful weather prevented our first CV battle of the war! The attached screenshot shows the situation.

Japanese LBA struck out from Madras and Bangalore but it was fragmented and 60 planes were lost through the day over the enemy ships for the loss of 15 enemy fighters. The only joy in these attacks was that the British CV Illustrious took a torpedo from a Betty.

I am hoping to engage the enemy tomorrow for our 'climatic' CV battle. The good news is by tomorrow I will be in LRCAP range of Tony's from Panaji and Zero's from Bangalore/Hyderabad. They will hopefully assist my CV's.

I just hope the bloody reaction thing does not mess up my CV's. It probably will with my CVE TF reacting to the enemy today! If I lose this battle due to the reaction rule you will be seeing many an emoticon and symbolised swearing[;)]

-------------------

My attact at Dimapur stalled over the last fortifications. Scouts report 3 more enemy units approaching. I am pressing the attack tomorrow. I need to take this place:

Ground combat at Dimapur

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 107228 troops, 940 guns, 156 vehicles, Assault Value = 2159

Defending force 31919 troops, 169 guns, 6 vehicles, Assault Value = 456

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 0

Japanese max assault: 1915 - adjusted assault: 1129

Allied max defense: 435 - adjusted defense: 931

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 0

Japanese ground losses:
582 casualties reported
Guns lost 26
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
613 casualties reported
Guns lost 15

--------------------

Lunga was surpressed again just to keep it 'in check':

Day Air attack on Lunga , at 67,97

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 42
G4M1 Betty x 119

Allied aircraft
Fulmar x 11
F4F-3 Wildcat x 8
F4F-4 Wildcat x 5

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 14 destroyed, 1 damaged
G4M1 Betty: 4 destroyed, 6 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
Fulmar: 4 destroyed, 4 damaged
F4F-3 Wildcat: 7 destroyed
F4F-4 Wildcat: 2 destroyed, 2 damaged
Hudson I: 3 destroyed
Swordfish: 4 destroyed

Allied ground losses:
52 casualties reported
Guns lost 3

16th October 1942 - CV Wasp pummeled

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

Another day's frenetic action in India.

Surprisingly Admiral Dadman did not order a full retreat and we had another round of intense air combat today.

BAd weather prevented all CV borne operations in the morning but cleared by afternoon. It started off with a funny air raid by CS Chiyoda's Jakes escorted by Zeroes (I forgot to turn off the Jakes from Naval attack LOL):

Day Air attack on TF at 17,9

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 6
E13A1 Jake x 14

Allied aircraft
F4F-3 Wildcat x 13
F4F-4 Wildcat x 13

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed
E13A1 Jake: 4 destroyed, 6 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-3 Wildcat: 1 destroyed

Allied Ships
CV Illustrious
CL Birmingham
CL Glasgow

A couple of large strikes were then launched against my screening CVE force. They were opoorly escorted though and my Zeroes on CAP had a field day in shooting down 60 x SBD, 5 x TBF and 5 x Wildcat for the loss of 3 x Zeroes. There were too many enemy bombers though and the following were hit:

CVE Unyo - 1 x bomb - 14 SYS
CVE Hosho - 12 x bombs - 94/89/39. Will not make Panaji but will try.
CVE Chuyo - 1 x torpedo - 30 SYS
CVE Taiyo - 7 x bombs and 2 torpedoes - SUNK

You may think not good but i'm happy with this. My screening force did it's force whilst KB launched 1/3 of it's planes against CV Wasp:

Day Air attack on TF at 17,10

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 90
D3A Val x 43
B5N Kate x 39

Allied aircraft
F4F-3 Wildcat x 17
F4F-4 Wildcat x 38

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 28 destroyed, 2 damaged
D3A Val: 9 destroyed, 20 damaged
B5N Kate: 5 destroyed, 9 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-3 Wildcat: 17 destroyed
F4F-4 Wildcat: 23 destroyed

Allied Ships
CV Wasp, Bomb hits 14, on fire, heavy damage
BB North Carolina, Bomb hits 4

A fragmented raid got smashed but put a bomb into CV Enterprise:

Day Air attack on TF at 17,10

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 6
D3A Val x 19
B5N Kate x 21

Allied aircraft
F4F-3 Wildcat x 17
F4F-4 Wildcat x 38

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 5 destroyed
D3A Val: 17 destroyed
B5N Kate: 9 destroyed, 3 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 4 damaged

Allied Ships
CLAA Atlanta
CV Enterprise, Bomb hits 1

Wasp was not confirmed sunk but I doubt she'll make it. This is it gentleman. The time for Dadman to either stand or run back to Karachi. I hope he stands since my plan has goen OK so far - attrite with LBA (heavy loss but has depleted his fighters), CVE decoy force (packed with Zeroes and worked a treat in shooting down 70 enemy planes for 3 losses) and now KB is at 80% capacity and will move 240 miles NE tomorrow.

At the same time i've order 3 x SC TF to move on Madras to shell the place and search for any enemy shipping in case he decides to skulk there.

BANZAI!! BANZAI!! BANZAI!!

--------------------

Progress was also made on the ground today. Dimapur was taken by 5 x Division against stout enemy resistance:

Ground combat at Dimapur

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 106465 troops, 915 guns, 155 vehicles, Assault Value = 2124

Defending force 31771 troops, 190 guns, 6 vehicles, Assault Value = 439

Japanese max assault: 1924 - adjusted assault: 1486

Allied max defense: 432 - adjusted defense: 671

Japanese assault odds: 2 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Dimapur base !!!

Japanese ground losses:
2039 casualties reported
Guns lost 52
Vehicles lost 3

Allied ground losses:
864 casualties reported
Guns lost 29

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

We rest for a day or 2 before advancing to the NW against the enemy.

Amazingly my Madras forces are still in supply and fighting hard! Help is on the way lads hold on. I am moving 35,000 tonnes of supply from Bombay (asuming I win the CV battle and gain control of the seas there again). LCU's are also moving through South China Sea/Singapore area towards Bombay.

I feel slightly happier with India again now since I have 600 AV south of Madras with more arriving all of the time. Madras is safe (for now at least). I have taken Dimapur androuted the enemy (3 more new LCU's the the NW as well though). Thus far in the sea battle:

CV Hornet - Sunk
CV Wasp - A wreck
CV Lexington - torpedo hit
CV Indomitable - torpedo hit
CV Enterprise - bomb hit.

In return:

CVE Unyo - 1 x bomb
CVE Hosho - Will sink
CVE Chuyo - 1 x torpedo
CVE Taiyo - Sunk

17th October 1942 - Yorktown sunk!

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

Woohoo! What a day to be a Japanese aviator. I believe Dadman made a fatal mistake today in splitting some of his forces towards Bombay and others towards Karachi.

Firstly, annoyingly none of my SC TF's made Bombay during the night. It would have been glorious since there were 3 enemy TF's. At least one of these was a CV TF. Ah the dream of 10 x IJN BB's pummeling those forces. Alas........[&o]

KB was in range of Bombay and his ships there were mauled (at least the important ones).

The day started off with a pathetic attack against KB1:

Day Air attack on TF at 16,11

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 84
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 3

Allied aircraft
SBD Dauntless x 7
TBF Avenger x 6

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
SBD Dauntless: 7 destroyed
TBF Avenger: 6 destroyed

An attack was then made against BB1. Radar detected this and 19 x Zeroes flew to mess up the enemy attack:

Day Air attack on TF at 17,12

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 19

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 2
SBD Dauntless x 10
TBF Avenger x 7
Blenheim IV x 5
Beaufort I x 3
Beaufort V-IX x 7

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 3 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
SBD Dauntless: 3 destroyed, 4 damaged
TBF Avenger: 3 destroyed, 1 damaged
Blenheim IV: 3 damaged
Beaufort I: 2 damaged
Beaufort V-IX: 2 destroyed, 3 damaged

Japanese Ships
BB Ise
BB Nagato
BB Mutsu, Bomb hits 1
BB Hyuga

KB1 had lasunched her birds towardds enemy shipping at Bombay and low and behold the Yorktown was there (no spotting of CV Wasp today) and was blown to pieces! What carnage:

Day Air attack on TF, near Bombay at 20,10

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 36
D3A Val x 28
B5N Kate x 89

Allied aircraft
F4F-4 Wildcat x 5
Hurricane II x 11
Spitfire Vb x 2

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 4 destroyed
D3A Val: 9 damaged
B5N Kate: 9 destroyed, 49 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 3 destroyed
Hurricane II: 9 destroyed

Allied Ships
BB North Carolina, Bomb hits 2, Torpedo hits 2, on fire
CV Yorktown, Bomb hits 5, Torpedo hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
CLAA Juneau, Torpedo hits 1
CA Chester
CLAA San Diego
CA Portland
DD Aaron Ward, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Later in the day a small raid put another bomb into Enterprise:

Day Air attack on TF at 19,7

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 40
D3A Val x 6

Allied aircraft
F4F-3 Wildcat x 3
P-40B Tomahawk x 6

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 22 destroyed
D3A Val: 3 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-3 Wildcat: 2 destroyed
P-40B Tomahawk: 10 destroyed

Allied Ships
CV Enterprise, Bomb hits 1

All in all a good day. Another enemy CV confirmed sunk. Plane losses have been heavy though with 220 Allied and 185 Japanese over the past 2 days. If I can take him all out though I can rebuild KB over the next few months.

I expect most of his forces to flee to Karachi now.

I am sending in 3 x BB Division to Bombay over night ( 2 x bombardment, 1 x SC) to hopefully clean house.

Dadman has begun marching 7 units south from Madras. Let's hope I can hold them.

18th October 1942 - Wasp sunk!

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

Firstly - is anybody reading this? Have any thoughts? I feel like i'm talking to myself in a big empty room[;)]

-----------------------

Fuso and Yamashiro hit jackpot at Bombay:

Night Time Surface Combat, near Bombay at 20,10

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 3 destroyed

Japanese Ships
BB Fuso
BB Yamashiro
CA Suzuya
CA Kumano
CL Natori
CL Kiso
DD Naganami
DD Amagiri
DD Oboro
DD Okikaze
DD Shiokaze

Allied Ships
CV Wasp, Shell hits 7, and is sunk
DD Worden, Shell hits 17, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk

Scratch another flattop.

The 4 x Kongo's then exacted some pain that the defenders of Bombay hadn't felt for over a week. More to come bozo's:

Naval bombardment of Bombay, at 20,10

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
SBD Dauntless: 5 destroyed
Blenheim IV: 5 destroyed
B-24D Liberator: 2 destroyed
Hurricane II: 1 destroyed
TBF Avenger: 1 destroyed
Beaufort I: 2 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 4 destroyed
F4F-4 Wildcat: 1 destroyed
P-40E Warhawk: 1 destroyed
P-40B Tomahawk: 2 destroyed

Japanese Ships
CL Sendai
CA Chokai
CA Maya
CA Atago
BB Kirishima
BB Hiei
BB Haruna
BB Kongo

Allied Ships
BB North Carolina, Shell hits 44, on fire, heavy damage
CLAA Juneau, Shell hits 1, on fire

Allied ground losses:
5462 casualties reported
Guns lost 81
Vehicles lost 19

Airbase hits 12
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 41
Port hits 21
Port fuel hits 1
Port supply hits 5

The amazing thing here was the pummeling of the damaged BB North Carolina. She's not confirmed sunk but I would love to see what state she is in.

I have 2 x BB TF's going in to shell the place tomorrow. KB will remain on station 180 miles WNW to engage any enemy shipping foolish enough to emerge from Karachi. The maximum CV force he can have now is:

CV Lexington
CV Saratoga - 1 torpedo
CV Enterprise - 2 bombs
CV Illustrious - 1 torpedo
CV Formidable

-------------------------

During the day Dadman launched a couple of attacks from Bombay:

Day Air attack on TF at 17,9

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 35

Allied aircraft
TBF Avenger x 3
Blenheim IV x 4
Beaufort I x 5
Beaufort V-IX x 7
P-40B Tomahawk x 23

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed, 4 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
TBF Avenger: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged
Blenheim IV: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged
Beaufort I: 1 destroyed
Beaufort V-IX: 2 destroyed, 3 damaged
P-40B Tomahawk: 19 destroyed

Japanese Ships
CV Zuikaku
CV Shokaku
CV Hiryu

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x Beaufort V-IX launching torpedoes at 200 feet
1 x Blenheim IV bombing at 10000 feet
2 x Blenheim IV bombing at 10000 feet
2 x TBF Avenger launching torpedoes at 200 feet

And:

Day Air attack on TF at 18,8

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 62

Allied aircraft
SBD Dauntless x 61
TBF Avenger x 45
Beaufort I x 3
Beaufort V-IX x 6
P-40B Tomahawk x 2

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 5 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
SBD Dauntless: 33 destroyed
TBF Avenger: 18 destroyed, 9 damaged
Beaufort V-IX: 1 destroyed, 3 damaged
P-40B Tomahawk: 2 destroyed

Japanese Ships
BB Yamato, Bomb hits 3
CL Jintsu, Bomb hits 2, on fire
CA Mikuma

Jintsu will make Panaji - 49/29/37

In return KB attacked the last enemy shipping to head for Karachi and landed a bomb into CA Pensacola, Louisville and Minneapolis.

----------------------

On the ground Dadman has headed back into Dimapur. A surprise.

He still has forces heading down the Rail from Bombay towards Bangalore.

I am attacking again in China towards Chengtu and from Yenen.

great read so far! This AAR has been my "go to AAR" read for the past week. The 1942 start makes for some quick action, rather than reading AAR after AAR of the japanese conquest of SRA.

nice work in China and India (especially China). Looks like you'll be able to knock China out of the game in the coming months. However, despite your naval victories in India, i'm a little pessimistic that you'll be able to take all of India, with Bombay, Calcutta, and Karachi all being city hex's and still in Allied hands........any thoughts?

Howdy,

India is certainly at the fore front of my mind. I've taken a massive gamble in doing this no doubt. I did so to make the game more interesting rather than the usual gameplay. Even more so it being a 5/42 start. So no one would expect me to do this. Ok few people would expect it[;)] If I fail here (and lose the units at Bombay) I expect the war to be shortened in the Allied favour.

I was 80% certain of taking the place 3 weeks ago. Now as you say, despite my naval victories, i'm not so certain. I'd give my chances 50/50 now. My forces in Bombay are still in good shape and I have 3300AV to his 800AV there. I am sending some supply to them now (rounding SW tip of India). Once they land I will attack again.

Dadman has sent 7 units SW from Bombay towards Bangalore. I MUST stop them there. If not I will lose all of India. I do have forces at Bangalore (600AV) and more forcesare en route but will they make it in time before Dadman arrives? That is the question. If they do and I contain him, can keep Bombay supplied (through control of the sea) then I still feel I can take India.

IF I either:

a.) Take Bombay
b.) Break throught at Dimapur

I believe I can push and take the rest of India.

It is very exciting this game and every turn is tense. India is literally on a knife edge IMO.

Agree with China though. He's screwed there and with NO HR I will take all of it and capture 100,000's of men............I expect China to be dead and buried by February 1943.

Speedy,

I have been following this AAR, although I do prefer the fight against the Penguin.

You are doing a good job here and there seems to be nothing of value that could be added.  If anyone needs assistance/commentary, its your opponent not you.  I hasten to add I have not posted on your opponents AAR.

It is a bit strange but your last few screen shots remind me of 1588 and the Armada going up the Channel.

Hi all,

Hi Alfred - Good to see you here aswell. Advice is always welcome. Indian is certainly in the balance to say the least. This really is an exciting game. I'm pushing everything to the max here and have gambled massively. If it fails it will be like a house of cards...........

I need to finish India off in the next 2 months to re-organise my defense of the Pacific!

--------------------

A mixed day today but mostly not good.

Firslty, as always, India. Mutsu & Co stemaed towards Bombay to shell the place when in the pitch black of night a massive explosion erupted on the starboard side of Mutsu. SS O-19 was the culprit who slipped away unscathed. Mutsu will make Panaji tomorrow and be fine - 30/34/2.

Retribution was delivered on Bombay by Nagato, Fuso and Yamashiro & Co who smashed the place to bits and destroyed 140 planes on the ground! There goes Dadman's LBA for India I would say. I will keep pounding the place though since the damage caused on the support troops is important.

The other bad event was poor play on my part. I had ordered KB to Loiter 300 miles SW of Karachi but had forgotten to turn off a Jake unit from Naval Attack[8|] As such 3 Jake's attacked a TF at Karachi with 70 x Zero escort. they met 60 enemy planes on CAP and the veteran Spitfires shot down 59 Zeroes for the loss of 30 enemy planes! The only good news is that the pilots I lost were rookies and my veteran core remains on my CV's. Time to rretire to Panaji to re-stock though.

On the ground Dadman's forces continue south towards Bangalore.

Good news at Dimapur. Recon has identifed only an additional division (18th UK) to the Allied ragtag. I aim to smash these bastards to the west tomorrow.

---------------------

The only other action in theatre worth noting was SS RO-34 successful attack on DMS Trevor at Lunga with a torpedo leaving her heavily damaged[:)]

A Tony Sentai has landed at Shortlands to provide shorter ranged CAP. Another one is en route currently based at Saipan.

Hi all,

A poor day...............

-------------------------

First the good news. 6 x BB shelled the sh*t out of Bombay causing over 3000 casualties and destroying 190 enemy aircraft on the ground! Good bye Allied airforce indeed. At least for now.........

Supply carrying Freighters will reach Panaji tomorrow. Some supply will be unloaded there with the rest (24,000 tonnes) being sailed to my men at Bombay. They will be escorted by KB and BB's. I aim to then attack again from Bombay and to take the place. If I do Dadman is in SERIOUS doo doo.

His 7 units are approaching my roadblock north of Bangalore. Fingers crossed.

Other good news is DMS Trevor sank due to her torpedo hit yesterday.

BB Mutsu made Panaji easily.

----------------------

Now the bad news. 1 bit I understand the other I don't.

Firstly my attack west of Yenen, China failed due to a lack of supply:

Ground combat at 49,26

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 107522 troops, 1190 guns, 288 vehicles, Assault Value = 2321

Defending force 32328 troops, 173 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 580

Japanese max assault: 2131 - adjusted assault: 252

Allied max defense: 600 - adjusted defense: 465

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
1120 casualties reported
Guns lost 29
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
169 casualties reported
Guns lost 4

My attack at dimapur surprisngly failed. My men were rested and had lots of supply. Maybe a bad dice roll:

Ground combat at Dimapur

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 104724 troops, 868 guns, 154 vehicles, Assault Value = 2042

Defending force 37312 troops, 301 guns, 5 vehicles, Assault Value = 628

Japanese max assault: 1886 - adjusted assault: 543

Allied max defense: 580 - adjusted defense: 1535

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
1573 casualties reported
Guns lost 27

Allied ground losses:
805 casualties reported
Guns lost 24

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay guys. I've been busy for a couple of weeks now with holiday and then in Rome for work. Ironically Dadman is now in Italy for this week!

-----------------------

As usual the main focus has been on India but first a couple of IJNAF cmmanders earned their execution today[:-][:@]:

Day Air attack on Lunga , at 67,97

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 67

Allied aircraft
Fulmar x 6
F4F-3 Wildcat x 8
F4F-4 Wildcat x 6
P-40E Warhawk x 12

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M1 Betty: 16 destroyed, 5 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-3 Wildcat: 3 damaged
F4F-4 Wildcat: 1 destroyed, 4 damaged
P-40E Warhawk: 4 damaged

Allied ground losses:
6 casualties reported

Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 2

What idiot would send the bombers without Zero escort? Idiots. I've literally removed the leaders of the airgroups concerned. It's lucky there is no 'executon' button otherwise it would have been used 5 times on 5 different air units............

-----------------------

India is as per norm interesting.

Dadman is now 180 miles north of Bangalore. I will probably pull back from the road junction to the south of Dadman back into Bangalore. If I can just hold another week I will have another 300AV in Madras and then 2-3 weeks after that another 1000AV will be in place.

KB and BB's are still at Panaji. I shelled Bombay again destoryign another 50 enemy planes:

Naval bombardment of Bombay, at 20,10

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
SBD Dauntless: 11 destroyed
Beaufort V-IX: 2 destroyed
P-40E Warhawk: 1 destroyed
Blenheim IV: 2 destroyed
TBF Avenger: 2 destroyed
Beaufort I: 3 destroyed
Swordfish: 2 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 1 destroyed
F4F-4 Wildcat: 1 destroyed

Japanese Ships
CL Sendai
CA Chokai
CA Maya
CA Atago
BB Kirishima
BB Hiei
BB Haruna
BB Kongo

Allied ground losses:
1909 casualties reported
Guns lost 23
Vehicles lost 7

Airbase hits 6
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 30

I am now moving 24,000 tonnes of supply via AK from Panaji to my troops at Bombay. They will be protected by KB and BB's. With supply I will once again attack on the ground and hopefully take Bombay in due course.

I wonder if Dadman has moved out from Karachi. Recon indicates fewer ships and TF's there...............

China is still 'fun'. I am advancing on Chengtu and will move west of Yenen too. Dadman is trying to advance on Chungking with 10 units from Kunming but I have 7 units there behind level 9 forts.

Anything going on in this game?  It was quite interesting, but the reports came to an abrupt halt.

Not sure. I'm waiting on Dadman. I have e-mailed him to chase up. He's had the turn for weeks. Dadman does go through busy spells though.

It is an interesting game for sure[:)]

Hi all,

We seem to be back in business with Dadman re-appearing from his hiatus.

This has taken me a fair while to get back into this game which is a shame since it was left on a kinfe edge with India in the balance.

Today was a fairly quiet day though.

No combat in the South Pacific. I wish I had more power down there to supress Lunga. With the major forces pushing in Inidia (ground, sea and air) it leaves limited forces in the South Pacific. Betties/Zeroes can striek herd (when co-ordinated) from Rabaul and Lae AF keeps PM out of action for the Allies though. If I can just hold here for 3 more months and TAKE India I will be ok.

The Japanese continue to advance in China to the gates of Changtu. So deep into China though supply is a problem.

-----------------

India -

The allies advance towards the road junction north of Bangalore! I need to hold for a day or so before withdrawing south.

C'mon transports get those reinforcement divisions to Madras pronto!

Japanese air is in control of central/southern India though and the Allies north of Bangalore take a beating from the air.

As you can see from the screenshot the supply convoy is en route to Bombay. The next week may decide the fate of India. If I can hold the Allies near Bangalore and land my reinforcements he won't beat me here. If my supply allows my forces to attack Bombay and take it India is probably finished for the Allies.

Good to see this one up and running again!  Good luck.  It will be interesting to see how the war shapes up if you can finish off India and China and focus all your attention on the US.  It's been pretty long since the last posts in this game, so I can't remember what Admiral Dadman is doing in the Pacific while you're engaged in India.  I'll have to re-read this thread in it's entirety.

Hi all,

Hi Canoerebel - thanks. It is good to get going again. I too have had a little trouble getting back into this. Of all ther games i'm playing this is the most tense and most 'on a knife-edge' at present. Very tense. I literally am pushing to the max in India with all I can spare. Every spare LCU is there, the CV's and BB's need rest and planes and pilots etc. If I can just keep pushing though and regain initiative in India it will be worth it in the long run.

------------------

Overall a surprisingly quiet day. Tomorrow should be anything but though!

With Japanese troops marching over the Owen Stanley's and only 60 miles away from a starved PM B17's bomb troop position on the mountains. A6M's will fly CAP if they try again.

No action over Lunga as the Allies continue to build up. Grr If only I had the spare ships and machines down here[;)]

A 2 x CL, 6 x DD TF will leave Truk tomorrow bound for Lunga. I know at least 20 x PT are in the area but we'll see. I may pull them back depending on how I feel over the next 2 game days.

------------------

I don't often mention them but about 30-40 convoys are zooming around the map collecting resource/oil or delivering supply/fuel/troops to outposts.

------------------

India -

The climatic region. The re-supply convoy has reached Bombay. Supplies will unload over the beaches tomorrow guarded by IJN heavy guns. CV's will move 60 miles offshore to protect the sea lanes.

8 x B24 tried to bomb my ships in the day. 7 were shot down and 1 missed CVL Ryujo. Dadman knows I have CV's here now though.

A BB Divison will shell Bombay overnight to keep the place supressed.

My men attack at Dimapur tomorrow to try to smash away into India proper from Burma (base is mine just trying to push the enemy back).

Dadman did not attack on the rail line towards Bangalore. Good. Tomorrow another Bde will reach the position and 1st Guards Bde will reach Madras tomorrow by sea. Every day makes me feel safer up here.

Hi all,

Another climatic day in what's becoming a tumultuous war............

Other than RO-61 being heavily damaged bya Hudson near Lunga (CL/DD TF of mine still en route) let's focus on CBI.........

Firstly the good news in China. The Chinese scum 120 miles south of Chengtu has been routed back onto the road connecting Kunming and Chungking. It's pretty clear to me that Dadman is desparate in China with him emptying Yunan and Kunming and marching the forces he has east. I'm not concerned here though with 1200 AV behind 9 forts in Chungking and with a further 2000AV just north of the Kunming/Chungking road coming to meet them.

Japanese troops are deep in China at Chengtu and i'm having supplyproblems despite having masses near the coast. Anorther 120K is leaving Japan in 2 days to try to help the situation. Nonetheless we attack at Chengtu tomorrow with weary troops. Surely the Chibnese can't be in a better situation.

-----------------

Now the bad news in India. This place is like a pendulum one day my advantage the next the Allies. Today the Allies took a massive advantage with my blocking force north of Bangalore being smashed to the south with feeble resistance:

Ground combat at 18,16

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 55740 troops, 343 guns, 1536 vehicles, Assault Value = 1530

Defending force 15910 troops, 144 guns, 132 vehicles, Assault Value = 419

Allied max assault: 2002 - adjusted assault: 1169

Japanese max defense: 427 - adjusted defense: 203

Allied assault odds: 5 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
969 casualties reported
Guns lost 35
Vehicles lost 4

Allied ground losses:
2031 casualties reported
Guns lost 56
Vehicles lost 17

Defeated Japanese Units Retreating!

I am rallying for Madras and hoping my 1400AV of seaborne reinforcements willreach in time. 300 AV of this arrives tomorrow in the form of the 1st Guards Bde. Every fighter and bomber in range is bombing the Allies spearheads to try to slow and destroy him. I do have a strong Bde to the east of the Allied speahead near Hyderabad which will attempt to encircle the enemy if presses onto Bangalore.

The Japanese attack at Dimapur stalls:

Ground combat at Dimapur

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 103881 troops, 874 guns, 158 vehicles, Assault Value = 1997

Defending force 51747 troops, 456 guns, 4 vehicles, Assault Value = 963

Japanese max assault: 1873 - adjusted assault: 756

Allied max defense: 896 - adjusted defense: 2017

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
2312 casualties reported
Guns lost 74
Vehicles lost 3

Allied ground losses:
1132 casualties reported
Guns lost 30
Vehicles lost 2

At Bombay the Japanese pummel the Allied positions again:

Naval bombardment of Bombay, at 20,10

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
Blenheim IV: 3 destroyed
B-24D Liberator: 1 destroyed
Spitfire Vb: 1 destroyed
Hurricane II: 1 destroyed
TBF Avenger: 1 destroyed
SBD Dauntless: 1 destroyed
Catalina I: 1 destroyed

Japanese Ships
CL Isuzu
CL Nagara
CA Mogami
CA Ashigara
CA Nachi
BB Hyuga
BB Ise
BB Nagato

Allied ground losses:
2731 casualties reported
Guns lost 37
Vehicles lost 10

Airbase hits 4
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 26
Port hits 5

KB is off the coast providing CAP and shoots down 14 enemy planes for the loss of 2 x Zeroes.

With the sheer distance involved levels of supply and fuel are a problem here. Panaji is low (24K supply and 27K fuel), Madras is at (69K supply and 42K fuel). More is en route but thedistances involved create delays.

Will AK's unloading supply to friendly troops at Bombay I am going for broke here soon. With BB bombardments for the next 2 days I then attack with resupplied men hoping to break the Allies. If I can I will regain the intiative. This will be going for broke since with limited fuel and supplies (insufficient to retain 4 x BB TF's on bombardment runs), KB and BB's worn out and in need of fresh planes and men I will have no time to wait and god again before my troops die valiantly.......
