Realistic firepower ranges and bigger maps one day?

Post by kipanderson »

Hi,

Is there any chance that PC will one day move to realistic firepower ranges and the bigger maps that I guess go with such ranges?

PC is a great series of games. I like the concept. But at the moment just a few too many, too big compromises. Give PC realistic ranges, bigger maps, realistically modelled foxholes and we are getting their. The foxholes are in… so getting closer.

But even with the compromises I buy your games… so you have the last laugh ;).

All the best,
Kip.

Something larger than a single grid square would be nice.
I was thinking about this today. The game is so highly modable that you can change the scale by modifying the data tables with a text editor. If you halved the spotting range table and weapons table ranges and halved the speed of all the units your map becomes equal to 2000m x 2000m. ... Of course your troops, vehicles, trees and houses then would be much too large compared to the ground/distance scale. Tanks

From the other thread, this should be possible. But couldn't the graphics be scaled down also? I don't understand the limitation there. Could the game come with alternate graphics, or a mod package provided? That would be good.

Probably best to play the game first then make a wish list.
When the minimum gamer steps up to duo core at 3+ Ghz then bounds can be expanded. No reason right now to design for a niche within a niche within a niche.

While that would be nice there are other things that could go higher on the list
